I've had 2 in my life, I honestly never thought it would happen again after the first one and I think I now know the cause of it. The second one, and hopefully last being just last week. Well I should maybe call it hyperventilation, and I think its all because i've been breathing wrong. I now have to mentally check in with myself to make sure my chest and stomach are relaxed and i'm "belly breathing" for some reason, i've learned at some point in my life to "hold my breath" so to speak and Ive always taken very short shallow breaths, from my chest and i'm totally tense-apparently this is a fear reflex. I've seen a few nasty things growing up and have often felt unsafe, i'm assuming it could be due to this?

I watched my bf breathing the other night and how his tummy would rise and fall, mine never done this, i'm now making a conscious effort to do it-although it feels a little unnatural for now I hope it will just become a normal healthy habit.

Time to retrain and its a strange but good feeling.

Anyone who suffers from anxiety or any symptoms should look more into belly breathing.

Yes. After my father died I used to wake up in the middle of the night with the beginning of one but I always managed to calm it down. Super scary.

For me was due to stress.

I have always belly breath as I often practice yoga and meditation.
Yes stress is one of the reasons, aswell as loss of control. For each there are varying breathing habits-neither of which are correct. I am seriously looking into yoga. Do you avoid alcohol also?

Used to get these while smoking weed. The only shit that helped was controlling my breathing and walking or running.

You must understand what a panic attack is to properly defend against it.

Its quite simple: your body feels like youre exercising but your mind is at ease yet your body thinks/feels as if it's running a marathon.

This is why you use simple deep breaths to neutralize the panic attack.

Breathe in through nose, filling your stomach with air - hold for 10 seconds - release slowly via mouth. Repeat until you come back to life
The most terrifying part is the heart rate going up-literally like i'm running. Its INSANE. I actually had enough of feeling that the other day and said F YOU to my body, you wanna run lets go-BAD IDEA. Of course I looked at the bpm monitor and showed me in fat burning mode like 2 mins in and that put me in a panic LOL! I wrote myself a note in my mobile while walking around the block. Its actually pretty terrifying. Not fun at all. I take it you dont smoke weed anymore?

Yes, I love yoga and I do karate too. Both are good for learning to breathe.

I only felt it at that time. Too many bad things at once.

No, definitely I don’t avoid alcohol. I am a Pisces 😄

I didn't get one for a long time but my suggestion is to do the 7-11 breathing technique

Breath in through the nose for 7 seconds and then out for 11 seconds, keeping the mouth closed.

At the same time say the word *Peace* or *Calm* in you your mind

Place one or two drops of lavender essential oil on a tissue and inhale

I find with the breathing technique, after two or three goes of it, I feel stoned

🙂
