Be dependable, someone that can be counted on especially during hard or hurtful times.

Listen and show empathy, but try not to give strong opinions about any situation, as they can come back to haunt you. Stay neutral in your responses, agree with her but dont add to what she says. When the time is right and she has had her fill she will decide to change the situation for herself, and no amount of input from you will make that happen any faster.

Like saying "I never liked that guy anyway" then what if they get back together! It puts you in an akward position, and the friend feels uneasey about how you feel.

Be faithful and dont say anything about your friend that you are not willing to say to her face. That can be a relationship breaker.

When planing things to do, take turns doing something that she likes as well as what you want to do.

Also one of the most important things is to let her know that she is a good friend to you, and how much her friendship means to you. Let her know what kinds of things she brings to the relationship: like what you like and enjoy about her say in a card once in awhile, and I always get little things or make something once in awhile that she may like or want. That helps her to feel that she is worth the effort for you to do something like that, and that you value her friendhip.

Be there for the good times and the bad! I cant think of anything else that would matter, but theese are the things that seen to count and keep a friendship strong for a long time.
