Its name, "Mayon Volcano," is said to be a contraction of the local vernacular "magayon" which means beautiful. If you've seen it in pictures, you haven't seen its finer details that make a huge difference... so you have to be here to see its hidden beauty.
The problem with Mayon Volcano is that it's covered by clouds most of the time. You'll find yourself lucky if you have seen it. Many tourists never saw it but once they do, jaws instantly drop.
Words like "spectacular" "magnificent" "enthralling" "alluring" are often spoken by tourists who have had a glimpse of it. Here is a picture I myself have taken on the balcony of our very house:
As a native of the town where the famous Cagsaua Ruins stands erect, I've had the rare opportunity to see its many splendid looks that only locals are blessed. A one-day, three-day trips are not enough. At least a week of absolutely no hustle is recommended. I can share with prospective visitors some famous landmarks, restaurants, things to do in the city of Legazpi for free.
Aside from the volcano, there are many pristine white-sand beaches splattered across the region. Subic, Caramoan, Calaguas, just to name some. Visits to these beautiful beaches are a nice side-trip if you want a perfect vacation in the peninsular paradise I call home...
