I understand 18 people but that group is immoral, not chinese in general, as far as the soup generalizing agian. I'm sure some where in some places thaey have sick shit like that but I willing to bet that some chinese find it wrong and don't indulge. Just like the states some shit is really fucked but it doesn't speak for the whole nation as the media would have you believe. just my personal perspective.

Makes me wonder if people are planted here to post alarmist material in order to gage people's reactions. There was a guy here a few years ago who would post SO MUCH CRAP, in fact they limited characters so that he wouldn't spam the boards with so much shit. Before that, our posts could be as long as we wanted them to be. Anyway, he would post crap like this all the time and people would freak out and it turns out that he was in marketing, so of course he was posting stuff to play with people's reactions, brainwashing is what he does for a living. He even made his own web site and recruited people over so that he could steal their personal information. He hated chinese people and women.

i knew about the women, but not the chinese people. there was a lot of hype around him but i didn't see the big deal for the most part. he always seemed pretty arrogant to me.

i ended up getting kicked out of the other place, it was kinda creepy how everyone there was like "we're BFFs. REAL BFFS. but we've never met each other."

β€”β€”β€”??

cult-like.

im not a racist nor am i showing a ethnocentric type attitude towards chinese people..because if this happened in america, and the title was "are americans really this cold blooded?", nobody would've made an issue of it..

i don't have anything against chinese people as a whole...i was just shocked to see something like this and posted it..

and another reason why its shocking to me is because china is not some 3rd world country thats in disarray where you'd expect this type of cold heartedness and lack of compassion for a child's life

Well, this instance is horrible-but does not color the mentality of all Chinese people. I'm sure the driver had no idea that he had hit a child.

im more shocked at the aftermath rather than the initial incident..

it was a bad look for china thou..you can go to the grimiest neighborhoods in america and i PROMISE you, that would never happen..NEVER.

yeah, I remember when you were kicked-out for having an opinion. Shame on you. πŸ˜› You have to bend to their will, or you don't get to stay in the exclusive lap of e-luxury. Definitely some brainwashing practice.

oh gawd, you remember that i had an opinionβ€” i'm so fucking embarrassed. i have to remind myself to stop doing that

they can get prosecuted for getting involved

drivers who knock people over get charged with compensation once they arrive at the hospital, you pay out more for death than injury i think.

they have an essence of apathy in china and extreme social control. now you see how hard it is to break out from social bonds, even at the expense of a little child.

as for the baby soup, that's fucking disgusting. i hope it's not true

Americans. Tsk. Killing their own just because they are too pussy to man up and take responsibility.

:/

See how this can be played both ways. Get your ass out of your head, you racist son of a bitch.

i don't think he's racist, maybe a little misinformed but obviously he means well since he was shocked at what happened to the child. but there's madness happening all over, china isn't alone with fucked up things happening in their country.

to quote another post, we don't need to demonise the chinese basically.

Well actually, they did one of those ABC shows, "what would you do?" and they took and actor and had him lay outside (on a busy NYC street) less than 10% of people even stopped to see if he was ok. They used an actress as well and they were both well dressed. So its really unfair to point the finger just at China. I lived in Los Angeles, and people would seriously just walk by the homeless people, they could be bleeding-it didn't matter😒

thanks for the links, layna

blood libel? that's so fucking primitive. see, this is what i hate. people wanna talk shit about a certain cultural group by claiming mad stuff like they snort their dead grandads ashes or whatever.

ok, the truth is out there but most people would have a grain of doubt regardless...as art though, i like the concept

I think that was Marilyn Manson iirc ? That and snorting sea monkeys.
I dunno, I think it's 'please notice me' type art. πŸ™‚

don't get me wrong, art for the sake of being controversial is shit. i guess it's about context for me, if i saw that in an exhibition i would like it. baby soup? it's weird and something i would never have seen before, something novel and repulsively fascinating.

the way it was carried out? just pathetic, really

hahaha you just zinged another of my favourites! is this water sign genocide? πŸ˜›

i love tracey emin. not everything she's done, but i find her to be a very honest artist. like, she gets at the undercurrents of human emotions-there's no shame or censors. hence that ratbag of a bedroom masterpiece πŸ˜› but you know, it's raw expression. statement art, brutally honest... i don't know much of her life story but some of her work points to depression, alienation, isolation that sort of thing.

seriously, i find her so passionate. i love her sketches and her work with light:

I think the process of creating it from edible stuff is interesting though, in the true name of art the creator should've set up an 'exhibition'/performance where they're on view actually eating it in a public place, see then they can get the raw, visceral reaction of 'the people' if you kwim lol.

exaaaaactly! omg, yes! that would have worked so much better. it was a good idea, just executed poorly. they could have taken it so much further. and now no-one else can do it cos it's 'theirs'. ah, maybe they didn't have the financial backing?

i know, alot of my friends hate her and i'm always fighting her corner πŸ˜› seems like alot of it is work-in-progress type stuff, where you can add your own interp on it, so it's like participant art

omg maybe you should collab your ideas with hers, the light thing is true...a punchline might of rounded the piece off. then again the letters remind me of a bolt of lightning, they're spiky, sort of daggered...the bird one is called 'broken heart'-so the crossed out one symbolises either death or the death of song, the ending of happiness. especially with the crow being there.

and then the note-codependency, without a person, 'crumbling into dust'? it's an ugly and broken down expression, but it rings true, some people act disabled/tortured in love. even the handwrting is scattered, crossed out, disjointed. like a person who knows what to say but doesn't want to?

are you more into classical art then? πŸ™‚

I think the artist would've got a kicking if they did what I said though lol. But I doubt the creator would be that gutsy even if they had security imo.
I don't think it takes much financial backing to set up a table or two (outside a corporate food chain ?? fight the powah !! make a true statement !), add a camera/cameraphone and go for it, kwim ? πŸ™‚

that's truly rebellious and it would be amazing πŸ™‚ i didn't think of that actually, so that's like outsider art? or going into banksy territory, sort of hit and run πŸ˜› an art attack!

The Holocaust Memorial in Berlin is imo a good example of art:

ah see i like that, but it's a bit structured/sterile for me. kind of like a gridlock, quite lonely. i liked this:

a girl, ron mueck

it's vulgar and in your face, also a bit surreal. what would have made it better is womb debris, for shock value πŸ™‚ and it's grimacing, so you're like has it just been born and is mad at the world?

Love happens - like lightning
If it strikes you it'll leave track marks ??

Now gimme sumn munnee ! πŸ™‚

I dunno about preferring classical art, Damien Hirst's half a shark was alright, but that crystal skull is another example of being a bit wank and 'oh make your own interpretations because I won't admit to the obvious ones anyways' type of art. Very "London 'it' crowd", unless it symbolises the coke-addled slow dying/consummate greed of the Oasis/97 lot and their desperation in the 00s. ?? πŸ˜›πŸ˜›

see, and i hate damien hirst i just found his work tacky. like riding on the coat-tails of devil worship/the metal scene. plus the bling culture, eww.

haha, london 'it' crowd? god, they're so pretentious *air kisses* 'oh hello daaaahling, lovely to see you again! who exactly are you?'

cocaine is one hell of a drug lmao πŸ˜›

you probably won't like this either πŸ˜‰ but we saw this like last year and i liked it, you could walk around in the exhibit. it was kind of hard to work out what the piece was, but we got there eventually (there's a video on the site):

Hahahaha...Idiocracy....great movie.

Nurse: Uh... This goes in your mouth. This one goes in your ear. And this one goes in your butt. (Joe puts wires in, machine beeps) Shit. Hang on a second. This one... Uh... This one... this one goes in your mouth.

Guard: Okay, sir. Now we will begin to proceed to obtain your IQ and aptitude test.
Joe: What for?
Guard: Okay, sir. This is to figure out what your aptitude's good at, and get you a jail job while you're being a particular individual in jail.

okay back on topic.

Well that's not too bad, but at the end of the day, they've recreated whore street.
It's no different in visual representation than the Jorvik centre imo for example, it's just the prostitute angle that adds 'ooohh shock' value. πŸ™‚
I think you'll like Idiocracy, it gets a bit flakey in parts and is a bit shiny but yep the 'modern dystopia' message is there buried underneath the rabble, in ever sense of the word lol.

i think i read things in art that aren't there. like the boxes on their heads, i thought it was because they have to alienate themselves mentally from the task at hand...now that's a big heap of aritistic license πŸ˜›

but yeah, it's true the driver's out of order. i can't stand animal cruelty vids either, esp the fur industry ones. it's sickening and pointless. alot of the people who work in those industries have criminal records for violence and they're mostly unsupervised. says it all, really

There's a (psychological) study stating that when there are many people around, none of them tend to do anything. This is the "bystander effect". Observers are likely to take action when there are fewer or no witnesses.

Why? Perhaps a fear of being blamed for actually causing the accident.
Note that the baby was picked up by a kind trash collector. She has been hailed a hero, but there are groups of people who also would fault her, especially if there is no surveillance camera about.

Furthermore, a casualty shouldn't be moved, let alone picked up forcefully. It may lead to more damage.

The van driver is so cruel though. It was said he was one the phone and just broke up with a girlfriend.

That video was nauseating.
