I need some help/expertise. I have an oold/ancient scanner (one touch 5800) and scan/print/fax machine (officejet j3680) and I cant get either one of them to work now that I have windows 7. I redownloaded the drivers but it didn't help. Says it can't find them/doesn't recognize them/unable to connect. I tried 2 different usb ports. I need at least one of them work. Preferably TODAY.. but I could go pay to have my documents faxed I suppose. Help?

The problem is the Windows 7. There is a ton of software, and therefore hardware, that will not run under Window 7. The coding that makes up 7 is such that the older stuff isn't compatible. This happened when 95 came out. A bunch of the Windows 3.x would no longer work.

The only thing you can do is to back up to a earlier Windows operating system. That could be XP or Vista. I am told that you can tell 7 that you want to "emulate" XP or Vista. I haven't tried it, but I am guessing that there will be just a little bit of work to get it to run that way. I would not want to guarantee the results, either.

Your best bet is new stuff. The scanner etc that you now have will not be supported by MicroSoft operating systems in the future, so it will just become more and more difficult to be connected.
