Phoenix, i am surrounded by the type of people you are talking about, hence my integrity crisis. This is a little poem/thing i wrote about someone who was exactly like this. At the time, this was straight from the heart.

"Oh you?re dodgy all right. You look sideways and back again, just to see if anybody has noticed. You hide behind that head of dark brown hair which you call feminine, and hope that nobody will notice the reactions from the faulty wiring behind your ears.
Yes you have deceived millions, you have ripped off many but still, you continue to indulge yourself in your fantasies.
What type of a person are you? And may I ask, how do you look at yourself in the mirror without shirking away in disgust?
But you do do well. I have seen you, quite the little genius. It?s just a pity you have to lie so much.
I must pay you a compliment because not everybody is all bad. Even in the darkest of us all lies the most basic of lights, something good- something to hold on to. It?s just a pity it doesn?t shine brighter in you.
A lot of people seem to like you, why shouldn?t they? You are a likeable person. In a funny kind of way, I even like you.
Actually it does shine bright, that light of yours, it?s just your dodgy little web of lies and deception that seems to impair the way I see you.
Shame really?
After everything you?ve done to me I tolerate you and even forgive you because, for some reason, I feel sorry for you. I don?t know why".

Anyway, that's all from me.

Yes, well another thing i have to b i t c h about is a sexest comment i got at work the other night. I told them i was taking a night off and they said, "that means we don't have a girl on for that night". Omg, can you believe it? I am the token female, and all this time i thought i was employed for my skills. I have so lost respect for them. Now i am starting to wonder...

Some of the people i have encountered in the industry i work in are the slimiest ive met in my life. To lie and cheat is the norm, but hey, if they want to be covered in slime, be my guests. Also, i believe in refining the gene pool, its bad enough as it is!

"refining the gene pool"

LoL what a way of saying "those people should be sterilized and shipped off to another island and leave us in peace"

Seriously, given another twenty years and women will be in most the top positions- we have more reason to want to succeed and more of us are going to college. Oh and if I run for president sometime in the future, will you vote for me? 🙂

This is true, there are more women at Universities than men. I see this all the time. Women should occupy the top positions... The way i see it is that women have to empower themselves and focus on their goals. Its like anything in life, look to where you are going without a sidewards glance.

We have to empower ourselves not to believe the crap. The ironic thing is that women don't realise they hold ALL the power. What do we have that ALL men want? Think about it...

And with that thought i will bid you farewell, for now.

cj5- I didn't mean that men don't want to succeed any anything of the like- I wsn't too clear... my fault.

What I meant was that women, because of their continuing inferior role in politics, business, ect., we want to even out the odds. At least that is how I feel. I feel that I still have to prove myself capable simply because I am a woman and when eventually there is an even number of men and women in all proffessions I won't have that feling of needing to prove myself. That was all I meant by it.

cj7, give me a break. Most societies are male dominated and 'geared' toward the male in every way. Females live under the 'male gaze', that is, they market themselves in relation to how a man sees them. They only feel successful through the eyes of a man. Eg. "I am not beautiful unless i have long blonde hair, big boobs and big blue eyes". "If i am not attractive to a male, i am no good". This is evident in the media.

I didn't say men 'don't want to succeed', they have every chance;, more chances than women in fact. How many female politicians are there? How many female CEO's are there? How many female 'icons' are there? You may be able to name a few but most of their success is due society's identification of them as a traditional female (Princess Di; 'the carer and nuturer' or Mother Theresa; 'the carer and nuturer'). In other words, they are not famous in their own right; they are still subordinated by the roles a patriarchal society imposes upon them.

Women are paid less than men. You dont have to look far for evidence of this; you can see it in hollywood. Women weren't allowed to vote until relatively recently either, and even then, they had to form a radical feminist movement in order to be heard.

I really do disagree with your comments cj7. The fact remains that it is still harder for women to reach the same successes (outside of the home and the kitchen sink) to men. Cj7, success IS 'gender specific'; the multitudes of research supports this.

As for women having what men want, men's desires of women seem to be more prevelant than women's desire for men. The multidudes of porn and female rape support this notion. I am a lesbian and i certainly don't need a man to get me off 🙂

Yep, male patriachy is so deeply imbedded in our conscience that most people aren't even aware of it. Have a look around at the power structures in society, politics, laws; who do they suit? Guys. It's pretty obvious.

Bye bye, and open your eyes.
Martine.

i believe that women should be equal with men in the job place. and personally i dont care what either a male or a female need to get off. i am a male and no magic red carpet rolled out for me. yes i own my own business and i do make good money, but i have busted my donkey the whole way. the only reason that i am where i am is because i wanted it bad enough. yes everything is so easy if your a guy, doors just open up left and right. u dont think that even men face discrimination in the work place, too old cant keep up, too young couldnt possibly know what he is doing. my father works in a insurance office, the receptionists on a regular basis funnel key clients and leads to the female agents at a very unfair ratio. step back from the fact that you are a women, try being a mexican male working in the united states, or black , or korean. yeah gimmy a break. one of my best friends is single mother and i also have a friend who is a single father, they have the same problems to deal with. if u need to focus on repression to drive u foward by all means do. people of many races and different sex face tons of discrimination everyday. no one has ever gave me helping hand. me nor u created this society that we live in, i have never told a women to cook my dinner and make me babies, i have never owned a slave. this week on my jobsite i was discriminated against by a women, not because i was a male, but her perception of my age, appearence, and position of authority. she was sorely mistaken and i dont want to get into it because it still pisses me off. if u want to focus on how the world is holding u down thats great, but many people in this world have it way harder, female or male.

You right CJ7, you have got it right! I agree with you and the man deserves respect and dont let anyone push you down. You are a good man and deserve respect!!!! It is the male who needs a break today. Yes, we too work hard and have done alot without the benifit of the men, but who is really to blame here. It is not the man. Stand up for yourself and be proud and dont let them take away what is yours and that is dignity and freedom and liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That is our right and we are entitled to it under the Constitution.

Give me a break, if either of you knew your history you would know the plight of the woman has been a long and hard one. Ageism exists for both men and women, so this argument doesn't wash with me. Cj7, i am not 'motivated by oppression' as you put it, these are simply my observations. Quite frankly ive got better things to do with my time. I don't, however, see it necessary to turn a blind eye on the efforts expended by many great women who have given you, suzi-q, and me, the rights we have now. If we, as women, stood back and wore the roles instilled upon us by many men in the past, we would still be allowing rape in marriage (yes, that used to be a common law in Britian, of which our country followed) and lessor pay rates for the same amount and quality of work.

The point i am trying to make cj7 is that there are 'structural' advantages for men in just about every society. They exist in such institutions as the law, social security. They are also psychological; existing in the psyche of both men and women. Try living as a woman in the Middle East for example.

You mention other minority groups, such as African Americans or 'Mexicans trying to work in the United States'. This may be true, but one form of discrimination does not justify another and shouldn't be used as a way to dissolve an argument.

Inequalities exist in many areas of society. Race is one, gender is another. Im sure there are many fighting for race inequality; apartheid wouldn't have ended if there weren't (although its debatable as to whether it ever really did). Even though Apartheid has officially 'ended', the fact remains that racism is still inscribed in the minds of many people, whether they realise it or not.

Women have been subjegated for far too long. I suppose i can wear it too, but id rather speak out and have my say; what is a life if it has no principle? If you feel discriminated against because of your age, looks, race or whatever, then you should stand out as well. Personally, i dont like injustices, and for no other reason than to feel 'human', i will keep standing up for them. Sometimes there are no other pleasures in life.

Well, I am a women and I have always done what I wanted and if I didnt get the pay I wanted, I would eventually. And in this country, the law has taken care of discrimination issues. The EEOC is a joke but I'll tell you what isnt and that is and even more effective on employment issues. The NAACP!! I have sicked them on corporations before. They are a respected, even here in the South!

libragirl, im not saying these injustices have not occured, im not against this world being equal, and im not going to argue with anyone about the past because i had nothing to do with it. male bashing, that i will argue. your not a male so i dont want to hear how easy my life or anyother males life is from someone who has no idea. yeah society sucks or has sucked for a long time, but if u dont think thingsare getting better quickly u are wrong. since im not against female equality, or racial equality its futile to argue further, especially with someone who has no use for a male in their life.

just so you know, im a cancer and the best relationships i have had were with scorpio women. these are very smart, strong, ambitous, sometimes aggressive women. cancer and scorpio, we know whos in charge there. so please dont take my responses in a bad way. i just dont see what makes these discriminations different. if u dont get a job because your black or if u dont get a job because your a woman, in either case u dont get the job. two different discriminations that have the same result, which is stopping a person from moving foward or upward with thier lives. what makes one worse than the other?

Hey, cj7, Libragirl, everybody 🙂

Why, thank you for the compliments cj7 (about scorpio women) -- nice to hear such nice things. Now, as far as my feelings on this entire discussion, I can honestly see exactly what both sides are trying to say. Both you and Libragirl both make truthful statements. I don't feel like writing a book right now, which is my tendency when I am passionate on a subject, but I will say that I can see both sides of this argument, and overall I feel very disappointed that there is so much discrimination towards people of all types/sex. It is ridiculous in this day and age, and it should never be tolerated. Ever. It doesn't matter toward whom...it should be fought against tooth and nail.

I've been through Colarodo in the winter time and it is awesome! Do you like the snow? It is alot of fun to play in. Get yourself a 'fast flyer' and BONZAI it down the side of the steepest hill you can find! Bonzi!!!!!!!!Sounds like a whole lot of fun to me. Denver is a cool city (a mile high), and Vail is like a little storybook town at Christmas. I was driving night and day from Oregon cross country and was trying to stay ahead of a huge storm that was right on my tail, so I only got to see Vail for a few moments, but I remember it well. Wish I could have got to walk around a little. It was really pretty out. Make the most of it!
Have fun

Cancer guy, my opinions have nothing to do with the fact i am gay. That is just the type of biggoted attitude i would expect from you. I dont care what you think about scorpio women, there are plenty of other 'strong' women out there. Your attitudes are typical of a cancerian, cant see passed their own issues. You made a generalisation about a star-sign and about me, so i will make one about you.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself. "try living as a man...", please...

Anyway, i am bored with this conversation, it is going nowhere. I dont think you really know what you're talking about. I was talking about female discrimination and you have somehow turned it around on yourself. Typical cancer. People like you dont make any changes because you are so worried about yourself. You have also showed me you are a bigot. I never said i didnt have any 'use' for a man. I, infact, have quite a few male friends.

You are a bigot and a homophobe and i dont really care for you. Go and find yourself a 'strong scorpio woman' you obviously cant stand on your own two feet.

Oh yeah, your last post, i suppose it is futile about arguing over a principle, you only seem interested in making money. Again, typical cancer.

Anyway, as i said, im bored with this conversation. There is no use trying to convert the ignorant. Also, i believe all types of discrimination suck, including homophobia, and dont you think i have had enough of that one?! cj7, get off your high moral horse until you know how to not discriminate.

I just want to clear up one thing for you Suzy Q. You said
"In the United States, up until a few years ago, a man was paid more than a woman for the same job, same experience, etc"

Actually, in the 1970s women were paid about 66 cents per each dollar a man made under those circumstances. Now, the national average is about 69 cents (and in my area it is 67 cents). Women are still being discriminated against depite the overwhelming belief that they aren't.

Yes, cj, women have advantages in areas like newsbroadcasting, media, sales, waitressing, and such but when you think of it... how many secretaries that you know of are men versus the number that are women? And their executives, men or women? I'm not saying that all men discriminate against women, just that they do not comprehend the way we are dscriminated against. Also, you brought up the subject of a mexican man trying to fnd work here... you didn't mention a Mexican woman whose life is harder. Despite race/nationality, the women are still treated worse. Sorry if I'm lecturing or seeming to act like I know everything- I'm doing a report right now on feminism and discrimination in the workplace.

homophobe, biggot, you can call me what ever u want to libragirl, i was going to reinterpret what that last line meant about not discussing the conversation any further, not because ur gay but because ur strong feminists opinons are not going to be changed by me and i dont really feel that strongly about it. u want to sling names, i can do that to. i have a couple of friends that are gay, male and female, im not a homophobe, i dont care what sex u like. typical libra. whats wrong now u got a problem with anybody doing better for them selves, forbid i should make any money in my life, that wouldnt be fair to u huh. u want to make some money LG, come on out to colorado, ill pay u a grand a week to do what i do, can u hang? by the way i have employed women, hispanic people, black people, and a friend of mine that is deaf. u get off your high horse, u have no idea who i am. yeah ill take a scorpio women any day over a whiny lazy libra.
