I am really into them...I only have one deck which is called the Sacred Rose Tarot, which has modern (but made in the style of old) artwork and it's very colorful, and themed, obviously, around roses...each of the colors of the roses is supposed to symbolize something different, for example, the white rose symbolizes purity (if I remember correctly). There are also blue, purple, and red roses which are all incorporated into the artwork. Anyway, I love doing readings, but I'm very much a "beginner" still...I still have to consult the book when I do readings. But I must say that, even when I do readings on myself, all by myself, sometimes they are freakishly accurate.
One time when I was going through some sort of drama having to do with relationships, the entire reading was centered around male/female themes...very, very interesting! Every card I drew was like, "holy treetrunk, that is directly applicable to exactly what I'm going through!"
P.S. Any recommendations on other decks? I've heard that everyone should own the Ryder-Waite (sp?) deck...I think it's supposed to be the most traditional of all the style s.
Because I don't belong to any particular religion, and I am not against anything that could be classified as "occult", I am pretty open to it. I definitely mix it with common sense though...don't get the idea that I'm this hippie, flower-child, or goth type of person. lol. I'm very practical, but I like to play around with things like tarot cards every now and again.
Twinkee, do they go against your religion? Or are you just generally opposed to occult stuff? It's completely cool either way; just curious why you don't like them.
I have a friend who does readings who says she can't do a reading on herself. I think it is a mental block or something...cause I have another friend who can. They are both really good at it though...never use the book! Not like me! I have a few sets...but, I am definitely a beginner! I have the Rider Back, a Medieval (actual spelling) set, a Fairies Oracle set (which is different than Tarot) and Linda Goodman's Star Cards (a divination set)...oh, and Gong Hee Fot Choy. They are all interesting and fun! I really feel a connection with Linda Goodman and Margarete Ward (Gong Hee Fot Choy)...even though I have never met them and will never get the chance...
I don't know if I will ever be able to not use a book! But, I have found them to be enlightening.
I have a deck of tarot but I can't remeber its name- I don't pay attetion to the type really. I am definitely verging on putting faith on tarot- not because what they said will/has come true, but that EVERY TIME i use it I get the same answer for the future no matter my question. the past is pretty close to the truth too, though I think that they are very vague and many things can fit into a given set of cards. I hope that made sense- I shouldn't post when I'm eating.
Yeah, I read too..still a book reader mostly. I don't use them to 'tell futures' as I don't think they are meant for that. To me they are a guidance tool to help you see clarity when you may need it.
Futures CAN be read..don't get me wrong..it's just that that isn't my forte..but I have personally had some tarot future readings that we incredibly accurate in prediction.
LOL Star - just thinking about doing tarot readings on myself - it can be a hilarious experience. I don't know how to explain, but it's almost as though the pack and I are sharing a joke of irony. I'm trying to think of a way to explain it but i can't......
LOL Cortica! I enjoyed your post even though I had no idea why! Dont' get me wrong..I was laughing with you...but, I didn't know why! I could just sense a touch of FUN when I read it that made me feel happy...
Lawgoddess, what you said about the 'clarity' made sense to me...I decided I was trying to learn too much too fast...so, I am taking it one deck at a time! Oh...I forgot! I also have Doreen Virtue's Angel divination cards...
Maybe we should have a card party?!
Gwen, that sounds serious! I mean getting the same answer to your future..wow! I sometimes eat when I post too! LOL!
Luz! You are definitely invited to the card party! But, we may have to have it in Australia! I will pick you up! No worries!!
I must need a life! I had a dream that I came over there...to Australia! It's not that I don't want to see the world...but, I decide jokingly one day that we are going to come over and have a 'card' party and the next thing you know, I am dreaming that I am there! Weird! I need to lay off the message board for awhile...this thing is getting to me! LOL!
