2 dead, 23 injured after alleged drunk driver plows into crowd outside venue at SXSW festival in Texas; maniac ID'd, reportedly driving stolen car
A suspected drunk driver trying to evade a police stop crashed through barricades on one of the festival's main streets and crashed into crowds of music fans, killing 2 and injuring about two dozen more. 'About 10 bodies went flying,' one onlooker said.
Two people were killed at the South By Southwest festival in Texas early Thursday after a suspected drunk driver trying to evade cops plowed into revelers on a crowded street, authorities said.
At least 23 others were injured after the allegedly boozed-up maniac smashed through some temporary barricades and rammed festival-goers for two blocks along Red River St. in Austin at 12:30 a.m., authorities said.
Several music fans were run over while waiting to get into the Mohawk club, a popular music venue hosting shows on indoor and outdoor stages.
Two others were struck while riding a moped about a block past the club, Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo said. One of them, a woman, was killed, while the male driver suffered minor injuries.
The second person who died, a Dutch man, was hit while riding a bike.

I wonder if the cops should have backed off—? They usually do especially if it's a chase through towns and busy intersections. They had to know about the festival going on..hmmm
