Everyone said "no, not him...he wouldn't do that."
"He used to be a youth pastor."
"He's a good wholesome guy from the midwest."

Churches make fine havens for scoundrels. There was a rumor that my former youth pastor was messing with a 13 year old chick, which was believable to me since he tended to touch young girls when they were near him. Fuck church, I'd rather watch sports.click to expand

Yes, it's sad that multiple peoples lives were messed up over it, but it wasn't your fault, and there is a saying, "The truth comes out in the wash." No matter WHAT people THINK they are getting away with...it DOES catch up with you sooner or later, and just given your story, it sounds like a big case of Hubris --- "Hubris (also hybris; pronounced /??hju??br??s/ due to the hypercorrection of the Greek spelling due to the incorrect transcription of /u/ for /?_?/) means extreme haughtiness or arrogance. Hubris often indicates being out of touch with reality and overestimating one's own competence or capabilities, especially for people in positions of power."
We all reap what we sow, and when we get too big for our britches, we get smacked down...

What I've learned in my life Bri, is that people can't handle the truth. It could be smacking them (sometimes literally) in the face, but for whatever reasons, they ignore ALL the signs/information/intuition and go blindly on. It's sad, but it's the reality of the world. People want to maintain this "perfect" image, and unfortunately, life is NOT perfect. S#*t happens. I think if more people wouldn't look at things as personal failures they would be able to move on, but because so many people are wrapped up in what society thinks, it's hard for some of them to make decisions that will better them in the longterm, because they are focused solely on the - here and now. It's not a judgment really, just what I've seen time and time again in so many peoples lives; including my own from time to time.
