I saw this in my Facebook feed today

And a lot of my straight friends are sharing it and are liking it but I can't bring myself to be happy for them and so I thought I might bring a discussion to the board where people might illuminate me on the subject..

But I'll start off with what I find wrong with this picture.. - Firstly why are the guys shirtless for? does the baby have to pick up their scent—_.Secondly there are shit loads of orphaned children in the world why not adopt—_..Why do gay people need to have their own children for? is it to make them feel normal? to make them feel more complete? Children are people too not a piece to your puzzle??_.In australia its illegal to make money out of surrogacy so I'm not sure about other countries but why would a woman get pregnant and give birth for someone without receiving money? Does being pregnant really feel that good? Is having a child in your life so good you want to birth one for anyone who asks..

I have no problem with gay people having kids although I did watch a really disturbing documentary on a couple who were in a pedophile ring and they adopted a young boy and used him as a sex slave for themselves and friends and ever since then I've been skeptical towards peoples motives into adoption or wanting to rear a child..

Being a gay man If I was going to have a child I would have one with a woman and Id have no problem with copulating with her and raising our child together as friends.

Honestly, I find nothing wrong with gay people choosing to have a child of their own. It's "normal" for people to want to raise their own flesh & blood before looking into adoption. Adoption is usually the last option for many wanting to be parents & an additional optional for the many looking to extend their family. Good for them. The shirtless thing is kind of weird, though, I agree & may be the cause of some stone throwing. Could be misinterpreated for sexual by the most conventional folks looking at it. I have no issue with anything else otherwise.

Oh & pregnancy is NOT fun. It makes you fat, you get pimply & feel absolutely terrible half the time. I hated everything about being pregnant. Plus the cravings arent fun either.

I remember on time I craved fried chicken at 11 pm & had to wake up to go to a particular fastfood store because I craved THEIR chicken. ONLY that one. Nothing else. When we got there they were closed. I CRIED. I felt ridiculous inside ofcourse but I didnt care at that time...I was heartbroken. Long story short, my guy was in the kitchen at midnight frying me some chicken & I got very angry at him because it tasted nothing like what I craved. It tasted like nothing really because he forgot to put salt. I wanted to slam it to the wall. Another pregnancy downside, the mood swings!

I think a lot of people "like" things because it's the politically correct thing to do.

Good question-- I have no idea.

It's legal in some of the U.S.-- depends on the state.

Link here.

I can understand a man wanting to pass on his legacy through his own child.

But I don't know how a woman could act as a surrogate-- I'd think it would be too painful emotionally-- but that's just my opinion.

Not everyone has the same ethics-- and I think you may be in the minority on willingness to "co-parent" as friends...

But I love the idea of giving a home to kids who really need it-- your question could be asked of hetero couples, too. 🙂

Watercup, that sounds miserable!

And for what? For some little brat who will later make your life even more stressful and won't be thankful? lol, no thanks.

Exactly! That's why I'll never be pregnant again. Babies are cute though once they learn to sleep. It took me a long time to actually like mine tbh with you because of the crying & keeping me up at night. I used to look at it & be filled with so much anger + hate lol. I love him to bits now though

I'm all up for love and spreading love but to me this seems to be convenient love like we are living in the day and age where everything is available to you like buying any car you want or boat and the same goes for this child it feels like another form of consumerism. Maybe birth isn't as mythical and magical as I make it out to be, maybe its just science and statistics and I need to stop living in my own little fantasy.

But its just so weird being born by your biological mother and and your not allowed to suckle on her teat instead your buried in a crying mans hairy chest and your probably never gonna know your mum or have much to do with her in your life.

Stop it...

You aren't "living in your own little fantasy."

They're valid questions which most people won't ask.

And yeah, it can be looked at as another form of consumerism, and in some cases... it may be.

Some states won't even honor a surrogacy contract.

WOW its crazy how america is on top of all this already, in Australia its not even legal to marry gays yet we are so behind??_..

Yeh if surrogacy becomes an "industry" its going to be corrupted especially in third world countries and women are going to be treated like hens in battery cages.

People need to stop being so stupid and reevaluate their needs and everyone else's needs on the planet. We don't need more people and there are too many without a home and who need love and stuff too.
