First off, I'm not all that 'down' with rap/hip hop. But this dude was genius! For real, he spoke the truth about (what I imagine) life in the hood, life spent living 'the game', about feeding babies mouths with money won playing dice and dealing dope. Brother had it all going on. East coast, west coast. Guess I never understood the coastal rivalry at the time. And I admit, TuPac was the best of the two. But still, respect! Sadly, just another dead nigger leaving behind those who depended on him. All because of some lyrics he busted out....

I'm not much of a rap fan, unless it's old skool rap. I do have some Biggie and Tupac in my collection. I typically go for beats, unless the lyrics are positive.

I am saddened when ANYONE uses the N-word, not offended. But that is a whole other topic.

Anywho, do you listened to any 80s rap? Back then, it was positive. It was about staying in school, being respectful of parents, and saying "no" to drugs.

Like most genres, it reflected the economic, social, and political challenges of the time period in which it was created.

deeZired, I feel totally the same way. It's as if we were robbed of the genius we could have witnessed firsthand and I'm sure the rap genre would not be as it is with them still here fa sho.
