Still processing what it means to be able to form an opinion.

What would constitute an intellectual snob?

If you were trying to relate to another person to whom didn't have the mental ability to comprehend what you were saying .. then would this really be a snob, or would it just appear this way to the person who couldn't grasp your words?

Is a snob one who would know the information, but, chose to remain silent and just look down their nose at you, as if you're smaller?

Or, would an intellectual snob be someone who is condenscending, and others do comprehend what this snob is saying, however, the snob doesn't realize it and merely "thinks" they are smarter?

Don't know what it means yet .. to give you an answer of what is thought about this person.

"Intellectual snobs seldom do anything creative or purpousful to the world, instead, preferring to mask the lack of depth in their thinking with glibness, and ornated vocabulary."

That sounds in accordance with what this term may mean. However, the below seems like a contridiction to me in the aspect that a real thinker should be able to see outside of the box. If a real thinker is stuck inside of prejudices and don't assess different according to circumstances which also are different, rather stick to certain already proven theories .. then wouldn't that be a non-thinker? Wouldn't it be the same as a person who lacks the depth to go beyond what they already know?

"Unlike people who are real thinkers, they don't assess each individual situation differently, instead preferring to stick to certain prejudice, ideologies or theories which give an impression of great knowledge, but are acutally just a replacement for individual, independent thinking."

i think definately more of an attitude, where the intellect/knowledge itself may become more of an after-thought. "I know alot, am very well-cultured and refined. Now shall i teach and share, or use this as an ego-boost and more pleasurable distain of what others are too lazy to learn for themselves?" ..yeah, i think many character variables and personal subjectivities come into play. And maybe in of themselves, are all are not linear.

so basically, imho ..an Intellectual Snob can be highly intelligent cognitively, but emotional intelligence comes into question. It's like we've all known teachers who know their stuff brilliantly, but their more humanistic one-on-one ability to effectively connect and appreciate or respect another's intellectual reasoning or contribution, is lacking.

"Intellectual snob is any person which gathers a lot of information for the sake of presenting himself to the world as an intelligent, well-read or whatever person. In another words, a person who intellectualises things for it's own sake, or, better to say, for selfish reasons, eg. vanity, desire for other people's praise etc. "

True, OR it's a person who IS actually very knowledgable on alot of things (doesn't just pretend to know but ACTUALLY DOES know) & uses their intelligence to look down on others, to maintain a judgmental attitude. These types of people are always trying to prove people wrong because they generally know they're right.

One of the Scorpios at my job is an elitist pansy. He is always talking about how he knows more than others b/c he graduated from an Ivy League. Little does he know, the concensus of the higher-ups is that he is the weakest link (comparing the quality of our paperwork) at our organization.

I refer to my school alot too. But, that is moreso because I miss it so much. And who doesn't have school pride?

The fact of the matter is, some of the most intelligent people I know have never stepped foot on a college campus. So, high horses ought to be frowned upon.

What's wrong with "an ornated vocabulary?"

I have a large vocabulary and I'm not afraid to use it 😉

Unlike people who are real thinkers, they don't assess each individual situation differently, instead preferring to stick to certain prejudice, ideologies or theories which give an impression of great knowledge, but are acutally just a replacement for individual, independent thinking.

Actually, this seems to be the difference between people who are highly intelligent and those people who could be considered as intellectuals. Innovation is essentially the ability to draw correlations in your mind by relating entirely different concepts in an entirely new way.
