Syrian Refugees
I'm an American and we already have enough spill overs of illegal Mexican immigrants who just leave their homes to pursue a better life here. However, these Syrians genuinely need help and don't have homes period. It's more than inhumane to turn them away, have we really progressed this far only to regress in humanity?
Lets talk about homeless americans. How can we ignore them but offer housing to refugees?

In the mid nineties several thousand Bosnian refugees settled here and did a great job at rebuilding neighborhoods. They went right into the workforce and opened businesses.
Since then, new refugees settled from different parts of the world. It has been a disaster. They have not assimilated as well and the city is now one big ghetto. The school district is one of the worst in the country. This small city has one of the highest crime rates in NY. Many of these families have 10+ kids with no parent working. This leaves a huge burden on county services. The poverty level is more than 70% . The Bosnians that helped improve the city are moving out in droves. I moved 6 years ago but still have an office there.
In my opinion, the US is not being smart. Other countries are very selective of whom they allow to immigrate. We are not. The screening process is very limited. We have incorrect names and birthdays for half the refugees that are here. How many were actually criminals in their countries?

I am American and my stance in a nutshell is that first and foremost it is inhumane to completely refuse war refugees, especially when our country is bombing their homeland.
I don't believe their coming here would have the terrible impact some sensationalist political extremist are concerned about.
Logistically, I believe that suffering people are ISIS most valuable resource. Basic understanding of psychology, brainwashing, cults, and gangs = suffering humans are the most vulnerable = ideal recruits.
Based specifically on my last thought, I believe defeating the enemy could involve draining their most valuable resource, people. Welcoming refugees with open arms is in our best interests.
