what does a soulmate feel like?

Almost a year ago, I met someone with whom from day one, I have felt this inexplicable need and pull to be with and be immersed into. Even when he is not nice to me, I still have uncontrollable feelings of affection towards him and I almost feel obligated to be with him no matter what. These out of control feelings constantly override any and all logical rationale and thinking. I know how I feel toward him but obviously I don't know how he truly feels about me. I do know that he has not been able to let me go. I've tried to distance myself several times and he makes a big effort to pull me back to him. I feel a very strong emotional and physical bond toward him that I've never mutually felt with anyone before.

I started looking into astrology and our birth dates. According to our charts, we have 12 double whammies including Sun-Venus, Sun-Pluto, Mercury-Mercury, Venus-Pluto, and Mercury-Saturn. Not all of them are harmonious aspects (my Venus square his Pluto, my Pluto square his Sun). We also have a high compatibility according to biorhythms (90% match) and are compatible according to 48 relationships. I know this sounds all very stupid but I just keep trying to make sense of why I feel this way about someone who has given me no reason to feel this way about him.

I don't have a lot of experience in relationships. I was in one long term one and just a couple of very short term ones. This is the most intense one I have ever been in so I am seeking other's opinions and whether astrology proved to play a part in their soulmate experiences or if it was actually the opposite, soulmates without any astrological play.

How does it feel?

You're vulnerable, but you don't know why. It feels as if a stranger is putting you to bed, covering you with a warm comforter, and making you a hot cup of cocoa. But the irony is, you feel as if you met this stranger before. Maybe in another lifetime. You could close your eyes, and wake up to this stranger, after a beautiful long dream...and still feel completely safe. Your emotions are conflicted...but in a distorted beautiful sense. Euphoria vs Fear & Excitement. Now you're intrigued, but separation needs to happen, you need clarity and understanding. To make sense of it all. But during the time of separation, the two of you are telepathically communicating with one another, in dreams, in reality, through senses, people, objects, trees, themes, etc. Everything leads you to or remind you of this person.

When the two of you meet again, the vibe is even stronger. No words need to be explained for long periods of separation.

You just picked up where you left off, knowing that this courtship is SUPPOSE to happen.

Similar to you, I tried making sense of my relationship through astrology. (In fact that's how I became obsessed into learning more about it.) There's something unexplainable about the relationship, a strong pull unlike any other, completely illogical and out of character like it's meant to be.

"[...]seeking other's opinions and whether astrology proved to play a part in their soulmate experiences or if it was actually the opposite, soulmates without any astrological play."

IME yes astrology has played a part simply because I looked towards astrology to explain the experiences (like a confirmation bias). If you approach it from an astrological POV there will always be some aspect, placement, etc. with any interaction.

I did look up my synastry with past partners but nothing like this came up. There were some interesting aspects but no double whammy Sun-venus, Sun-Pluto, Venus-Pluto and 9 others. I guess what I'm wondering is if those aspects are significant when looking at charts and if anyone has experienced that before with a partner that they considered to be a soul mate.

feels like sheet. like a medical emergency

what are your signs?
He is a Cancer. I'm a Leo (Scorpio Rising, Libra Moon). We are both very emotional people but also independent and a bit erratic I think. He always seems to know what I'm thinking or feeling even when we're apart. Very empathetic person. We definitely feed off of one another and its quite addicting and also scary sometimes.

It feels like a gravitational pull but not of this life, one of the past. You've seen them before and it's held into their eyes.. Their soul reveals this and the energy that beams within them is too much to consume but you are drawn to it. Their presence is comforting in a way that soaks into your core. They know, you know.. It's harmonious yet exhausting. A type of connection that can only be accepted through your own life experiences and evolving nature. It is not always peaceful but it is not tragic either.
How are you able to tell the difference between someone who was in a past life, and someone who is a present-life soul mate?
