Posted by wisebloodOMG what a story sniff sniff - he's a handsome boy too - and look at that big treat ? lol yeah, he's in the right home - god bless that guy .... I found a free to a good home for my Doberman when I got divorced because I simply could not handle 2 very large dogs myself physically, mentally, or financially so Sandy and her brother came and met him and he went with them and they have given him all the best love and home I could have asked for ... I just found out he has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer and will go quickly and I can't stop thinking about what a wonderful life this dog has had with me and Sandy after he was tied to a tree and almost died of starvation which is how I ended up with a pure bred Doberman to begin with. I never would have thought I'd have that type of dog but took him in a almost 6 months and weighing less than 15 lbs he could hardly walk. He grew up to be 95lbs of lean muscle as we let him run through the mountains after deer - he had a good homing nose and would always find his way back. He was such a sweet dog.
Yes.. Actually the most important creature in my life almost never happened. And great time for this story as it's only a week shy of sharing 10 years with my special boy ❤️
10 years ago I decided I wanted my own dog. I searched on Kijiji for awhile before I found the most beautiful boy I had ever laid eyes on. A man who was in the Navy had just adopted him less than a year previous from a shelter and was now posted to go over seas. He was heartbroken about having to give up his new found friend, but after rescuing him from a cage, he didn't feel right boarding him in a kennel while he was away.. So he posted him for free to a good home. I inquired about the dog and after a few msgs back and forth, the Navy man asked if he could come meet me and see where I lived to ensure the dog would be going to a good home. I never replied to him after that.. I lived in a duplex with 5 guys who drank and partied and I knew I was not the most suitable candidate (even though I was set to move the following month). We also had no yard, but lived 5 minutes away from a very large park. However I didn't want this man to travel 2 hours only to find that he didn't approve of me.. so I never responded. A few days later he msg'd me and seemed a bit upset that I never replied. I was honest with him and told him why I didn't.. He must have appreciated my honesty as he offered for me to go down to his place to meet him and the dog.. So that's exactly what I did. When I arrived, they were both outside and the dog immediately ran up to me. I dropped to my knees and started giving him all sorts of love and attention. I wasn't even there 5 minutes when the man said "If you want him, he is yours" Through tears in his eyes, he told me that many people had been by to look at him, but none of them connected with the dog like I had and he didn't feel comfortable sending the dog home with anyone else that he had met. I could tell he was having a hard time saying goodbye. He took a few minutes to gather the dogs belongings to send home with me, and I gave them some time to say good bye, but this poor man was in tears and couldn't handle it.. He told me to just take him. I'll never forget that day. Was the best day of my entire life.. Changed everything for the better!!![]()

All that night where you didn't feel up for going out with your friends but glad you did because you ended up meeting the love of your life.
