So I was watching a Disney movie with my little one and got me thinking about soulmates. From what I have read soulmates aren't necessarily happily ever after, but more of creating challenges in your life/ teaching each other. So obviously things can get really rough at times, probably to the point where you can't stand each other, so how would you know if it has or will ever happen? How can you distinguish between a soulmate and a relationship that just isn't meant to be?

I feel that soul mates/twin flames are two souls that are connected in some way. The purpose of soulmate and twin flame are different. Soul mate isn't meant to be with you together forever ..He/She is in your life for a reason and to serve a purpose in your life. He/She will dig deep into your soul like you never thought possible... He / She will heal your heart and soul you have been hiding . There will often be obstacles/ challenges but regardless of the circumstances you will still the connection like there's a string between the two souls no matter how long has past and you two meet..it will feel right to where it first started like you NEVER parted. Even..months or years..... when the two re-united again and it still feels like " HOME" and " whole" and no matter how much each other changes with times, the re-union will bring the two back together like you do belong together. When your institution feels right to be with this person, it often is .. Trust, Respect, Connection, Trust appears instantly without needing any work done. strange but true. You will find you both are so similar in so many ways...the way you live life, your hobbies, what you eat, what you drink etc. when you re-united again is when you realise why it never worked with anyone else... there should not be a feeling of pain or sadness or expectations.. it should represents true and unconditional love..caring for the other person as that itself is healing to your own soul.

This is my own experience and to me he definitely is in my life for a reason...regardless of whether he is my soulmate or twin-soul. I have learnt to love in a way I never thought possible..Loving him is like loving my own soul. it is strange but true.

if you can't stand each other then you were not meant to be in the first place.. if he was your soul mate..that will never be a problem...because how can you not stand your own soul right ?...he is presenting YOU if he is your twin-soul..or soul mate.. if you can't stand each other then it is just not meant to be... listen to your heart...it will tell you what to do 🙂

It was meant as a question as to how intense can it get? I guess i am thinking of couples that have the love/ hate type of relationship with intensity. Obviously, with every relationship, people are meant to teach/ learn.

How can I distinguish? haha I can't because there's no teaching, nor any official traits to identify a "soul mate", and I can't never be sure based on what others say or suppose.

Actually I think the idea is irrelevant and distracting, if there's someone that can teach you a valuable lesson, it doesn't matter if that person is a soulmate (what's gonna change knowing that? nothing), and if I met the most wonderful woman for me in the future, the last thing I'd care is if she is my soulmate.

I think there's the dictionary definition of 'soulmate' and then there's each person's definition of soul mate

For some a soulmate is simply someone you've loved more than anyone else you've ever been with. The fact that this person captured your heart in a way no one else has must mean that they are a soulmate

For others, a soulmate is someone whom they've been with forever. Of course, you wouldn't be able to figure out if a person is your soulmate in this way unless you die or are atleast near death lol

For some, a soulmate is something like a 1st love, in that it's someone who has a lifelong effect on you. Someone you can't seem to get over. Someone you'll always remember even if you've never been intimate with them or even if the relationship ended before 'forever.'

And for others, a soulmate is someone who gives you that feeling. That 'you just know' feeling. It's more of a spiritual experience. That feeling like you've known that person forever or perhaps even in another life. Not necessarily an intimate connection but a spiritual one. The kind you just can't explain verbally but that makes perfect sense in your mind/heart

I think a soulmate is a combination of all of these mixed in one lol

I'm not sure about the whole soul mate thing myself. I do know people come into your life, whether through friendships or relationships and they come into your life for a purpose. Some stay, most go again.

How do you know when they are meant to stay or leave, besides it finally ending? How do you know that it is something you NEEDS to be given up on vs feeling like it needs to be given up?

I Thought I had that figured out, but it seems I can't shake emotions/ compassion for a certain person despite the things that have occurred.

That's what I always envisioned a soul mate being. Despite all odds you find each other....
