People pick which angle they follow. Christians read it as humans end up living in a cursed reality rather than being directly cursed themselves. We arent cursed, but our circumstances are. This is what Ive had Crhistians say when Id ask them and Jesus isnt supposed to cause an actual cosmic fix, they frame it more as Jesus starts the undoing of the curse by being obedient and through resurrectin

They seem to promote hardship and worship of God as a slave.
So basically God curses Eve and Adam for disobeying.
And he curses Eve with painful labour and Adam with poverty and having to labour hard to live.
Each gets their personalized curse. The serpent Adam and Eve.
There are those who say God isn't giving a curse but its a consequence of sin. But the thing is the word curse and cursed are mentioned several times .
Genesis 3:14 The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, CURSED are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. 15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”
Also God takes responsiblity for this completely.
“I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring''
It's clear God is the one doing these actions directly its not simply a consequence in the natural order.
So, congratulations Adam and Eve, you’ve just introduced a new world order. You had the garden, but now you’ll have a warzone. Enmity will exist. Your offspring (us) will be drafted into the conflict. There is no exit strategy.
God gives them some hope claiming one day one of Eve's descendants will have victory over the Serpent (although not necessarily the devil) Christians claim this is Jesus. Judaism claims the messiah has not yet come.
But one of the things that is interesting is Eve is cursed with painful labour.
On top of the war on her children God multiplies the pain that Eve feels in labour ' “In pain you shall bring forth children”
And perhaps this is even emotional pain like post natal depression etc.
God curses Adam and Eve with marital strife. “Your desire shall be contrary to your husband, but he shall rule over you”
Then of course God curses Adam with poverty. And says only in strife pain need and labour shall man eat.
Genesis 3:17 And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; 18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
Because of this for a long time to have pain relief in childbirth was considered against God because God specifically cursed Eve with this affliction. But also it was thought to be TRULY Christian you had to be poor and to labour. And to have wealth was also rejecting God's plan.
I wanted to think what others felt?
I have met many followers of Judeo Christian religions who reject this idea that God cursed man in genesis and think its ok for Christians to be rich or that God wishes for them to be rich.
But any Catholic priest have spoken to or doctrine I have read suggests otherwise.
Why is this important? Well Judeo Christian beliefs form the basis of a lot of instutions and laws. And if we think that God cursed all man with poverty etc that might affect how we see things like healthcare etc or a tax system.
For my own point of view I reject the curse of God. I don't feel God has the right to curse people and I don't accept that energy or that being God in his right mind lol.
Anyway I just want to say I respect other points of view and people of all religions etc.
So please keep it respectful towards all.
Its just a discussion.
Peace.
Also I have to post this for fun
So do you think to have pet snakes or take pain relief during your period or at childbirth etc is unchristian? Or do you think to be rich and not sweat etc or work too hard and struggle is going against God?
