Cheap Laptop

I just need one to get me through the semester. I'm talking to a friend of mine and he seems to know how to get me one that I need.
Don't toss your old laptop. It's easy to pull the old drive and transfer the info to another computer using an adapter like this one:

Well, I've had my laptop for a while and now I think its officially out of it :/

I ordered an adaptor -- the exact same one that burned out on me a week or so ago. And it didn't work ...
The way I work, my laptop has been a life-saver and I currently don't have a desk computer ... so yeah, that was my only work station I used to get my assignments done. If I stayed on campus, it may not be too big a deal but I don't (at least not yet) I commute.
