my son's pc isn't working. the light on the processor goes on when you switch it on but there's no whirring, beeping or flashing lights (please forgive very untechnical terms btw).

the monitor is staying on standby and i thought this might be because it's not being kick-started when i switch on the processor and all that stuff doesn't happen?

i've checked all the connections and everything looks ok and i jiggled the mouse around a little to see if anything happened but nada.

is mercury going to pay for it to be repaired MD? i don't think so and i don't think my insurance has a clause for 'breakage as a result of planetary movement' either. 😢

nah. it's good you stated the obvious. i got a shock this morning when i tried to dig my toast out of the toaster without unplugging it so it's good to know beforehand 🙂

actually. i live on a mountain and we have a very poor electricity supply. we had a few long power cuts recently and this may have caused something when the power came on as i wasn't around to unplug everything when the power went down.

his pc does actually all run through a surge box though and i would've thought that should've protected it on those occasions?
