The feeling of isolation, the sweat, the dryness, and the scorching sun takes me back to my scorpio survival instincts >🙂
I hate to be Different Debbie but I hate the desert. I have to be near a beach or a large body of water to feel comfortable.
Side note: When I first saw the thread I could've bet my bottom dollar the title mentioned scorpios and dessert. I was prepared to post something about red velvet cake. Not sure how I misread that.

I have no idea, but I would love to spend time surrounded by that type of peace and quiet. The sunsets are beautiful.
I like the desert. But I like other places as well.
Having drivin' cross country all over the US more times than most
people on this forum count years of their lives, I can say
that the desert is one of those last places of solitude that can be found in the US.
I honestly don't think I'd care for the Sahara unless I was just traversing it.
^^
Also, to add to my comment, IMHO, people who expressed that they think the desert is "boring"
are probably boring people, themselves. They need to be coddled, pampered and entertained.
Let's keep in mind that "desert" is related to the word "deserted". So.... Any place could
be a desert if the prevailing emotion, within, is that of isolation and loneliness.
It could well be that the diverse geographical features are there to serve as a spiritual
lesson for the soul. The ocean is but a desert of water with ZERO hospitality.
The sea can drive people, insane.
One thing I like most about the southwest desert, is the smell of the rain on the wind in the summer.
The scent is particularly strong. More so there than anywhere else. It could be that because the
desert isn't as polluted by man's "handywork", as most other places, the chaste bareness probably
explains that. Same holds true for the forests. People who are imprisoned in the city have no
idea what such beauty like that, is.
I think I would enjoy the isolation from society for a while
I live on a little blip in surrounded by ocean! Pretty sure the closest NZ has to a desert is a sandpit in the neighbours backyard!
I do however like the remote, dramatic, wild places of NZ- we've got a lot of that type of thing 😄
hehe! it is a very beautiful country... but there are no dragons, wizards, hobbits or elves here in RL 😛
well... there are some hobbits... and whatever you do- don't go to Hamilton!!!!
I think the desert is amazing...very mystical. I like it best in the summer, but couldn't get my Scorp to go there if I used a sharp stick. He's extremely hot-natured, and the very thought of that kind of heat makes him run the other way.

I don't understand how people go "the deserts so boring, theres nothing there", that's the point of why I like it! It's amazing how the deserts spans so so far without any massive distraction. THAT is freedom.
i guess it's really subjective. maybe cuz im a scorpio?
