how many scorps are actually interested in doing this? i wonder cos personally, i can't be nailed down by a 9-5 job and have no interest in procedures and 'fair and equal treatment' of the type that you get in corporate environments which is always far from fair or equal. i don't kiss ass and i don't patronise or pull rank. i don't like being told when and how long my breaks should be....in fact, i just don't like being told to do anything, LOL.

yet, i am a workaholic with virgo rising and i've earned money since i was 13. i've always had entrepreneurial leanings and i'm quite 'masculine' in the work environment (mars in leo?).

does anyone else prefer to take what is often the harder route of going it alone in business or do you prefer the structure of a corporate environment?

actually, i took a break from working for myself for a few months because i thought it would reduce my stress levels working in a job which paid a monthly salary...thus removing the need for me to actively secure the business myself. it increased my stress levels through the roof. the whole concept of the glass ceiling and corporate dress code i find really restrictive and stifling. like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

elle: i can appreciate why you shut your business down and turned your back on that life style for a bit. you not only pour a lot of energy into building a business but heart and soul too and it can really be devastating when the dynamic of a partnership is damaged beyond repair.

Most Scorps I view are ladder climbing material they usually show me i'm correct.

Use that shit to get you where you need to go and then drop out of sight. it's really rather simple.

The calm, patience, stamia, and ability to work things out common sense wise goes far. Also the feel of being "there" in other hearts helps them understand.

i don't think it's about allowing the mind to go there. if you work in a corporate environment, you can't avoid rules. rules about what you wear. when and where you eat and what time you start and finish. if you want to climb the ladder, you are expected to 'go the extra mile', ie work longer hours for the same pay and during that process, there is every chance someone will step all over you to steal that promotion from beneath your feet. then there's matrix management and micro management and rungs or echelons of authority and everything is done by the book. pay scales. benefits packages. bonuses (about the only thing performance related) and if you're lucky, a whole 4-6 weeks vacation.

to me, that's stifling and that's what i mean about corporate imprisonment. i don't lack discipline in my own work but i create the rules and i go the extra mile because it's profitable to me rather than expected of me.

btw...i'm a titan. you don't get titans in the corporate world. you have fat cats and minions and several layers in between with pompous titles that are meaningless. when i was on the corporate ladder at the beginning of my career, i was a vice president, lol....very un-english title but it was an american bank. vice president, lol. i wondered if i stayed there long enough whether i'd end up queen of england!

in the corporate world people are disposable. job security is non-existent and so people are trapped by the monotony of it all. it stifles self expression. deadens passion. and i guarantee everyone has days when they just don't want to bother with it all.

whereas if i can't be arsed, i grant myself the day off.

don't say sorry for writing so much!!! your opinion was very well expressed 🙂

a friend of mine once described the corporate environment as being in 'the velvet rut' cos you were kept in comfort by the salary and it was enough to keep you there til pensionable age. nothing wrong with that i guess. horses for courses.

from my point of view, as a single mother it's just been easier not to have a regimented work routine. my kids are teenagers but they still need running around to places and in the absence of their father, i like it to be me. it's a big sacrifice in terms of security though cos i know that if i can't work for whatever reason, we're pretty much doomed.

at the end of the day, wouldn't it be MUCH nicer if none of us EVER had to work at all and still got the money—

utopia!
