In a sense yeah. Whenever astrology talk comes up and people find out I'm a Scorpio I get treated with the projection of 'sexy passionate scorpio'. People never really think I'm mysterious.
I think in general, most people use astrology to explain other people rather themselves. Hence while you'll see some of the most argumentative users typecast a sign or placement in one thread and then they'll say astrology is crap in another. in that way I think most signs are misunderstood because dumbasses see only what they want to see.

My biggest problem with Scorpios is that when they get pissed off, they lack the sensibility to understand that destroying the entire building is not a wise move.
But yes, I do respect their tenacity, but laugh at their inability to understand that self-destructive behavior is a fool's path.

I agree that self destruction isn't the answer, but for Scorps that's the one that makes most sense, because if you destroy the old, everything goes with it. I understand as a deeply feeling water sign that sometimes that's the only way to start over again. I usually drown my pain, sorrows, etc...whatever is unpleasant, I drown it in a counter active energy. That usually makes me feel better.
