Kurt Vonnegut is my all-time favorite author. I read his "Sirens of Titan" in AP English my senior year in high school. I loved his satirical writing, his dark humor. He had such a peculiar way of writing, but he threw in plenty of references to society as a whole. I then read some of his other works. He is phenomenal, and he is one of our fellow Scorps!

I will leave a few quotes here since I am bored and have nothing better to do with my life.

“How nice -- to feel nothing, and still get full credit for being alive.” -Slaughterhouse Five

“The last thing I ever wanted was to be alive when the three most powerful people on the whole planet would be named Bush, Dick and Colon.”

“Dear future generations: Please accept our apologies. We were rolling drunk on petroleum.”

“And Lot's wife, of course, was told not to look back where all those people and their homes had been. But she did look back, and I love her for that, because it was so human. So she was turned into a pillar of salt. So it goes.” -Slaughterhouse Five

“True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country.”

“I was a victim of a series of accidents, as are we all.” -Sirens of Titan

“A sane person to an insane society must appear insane.”

“Love is where you find it. I think it is foolish to go around looking for it, and I think it can be poisonous. I wish that people who are conventionally supposed to love each other would say to each other, when they fight, 'Please — a little less love, and a little more common decency'.”

“If somebody says 'I love you' to me, I feel as though I had a pistol pointed at my head. What can anybody reply under such conditions but that which the pistol holder requires? 'I love you, too'.”

“Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before.”
