I can forgive the bargain basement couch replete with burn holes ( who hasn't scored a 'for now' piece from time to time? ) but with that wallpaper, the "I'm so fetching" Holly Hobbie dust collector of sunflowers perched on top for effect..gack. Bwahahahaa.

GACK is right! In this situation, I would say, "Less is more." We've all had times when we didn't have money, etc, but try to keep the gag worthy knick knacks and wallpaper to a low roar. I'm a woman, and I even abhor going into places that look like a flower bed barfed...

That's exactly it. Just because you're running a tight ship does not mean you can't have something nice here and there. Cripes, pick up a needle and make a dust cover for that thing, toss on some nice pillows. You don't have to trumpet with an extended finger "Here, here, here and here". There's ways around things so you don't look like you're living at the Budgeteer motel. I'd be stripping that "Go Grammy" paper off in about .2 and layering it with something lush. Deep chocolate brown and storm gray come to mind for no reason. Take a 10 dollar end table and put a gorgeous piece of fabric on it. Little lamp with a pretty sheer kerchief or other. That's where you reside, not the Sunny Dale rest home. ( Notice how I keep steering away from the young lady in horns though? LOL )
