He who doesnt falls
Yup.

They can be your greatest ally, and smart men know that.

Running over your s.o. is screwing yourself.

Men and women are, ideally, meant to complement each other.

I think he meant that truly powerful men will treat women as equals.

Unlike the example given in OP.

I agree that they were rotten.

"Power leads people to act in impulsive fashion, both good and bad, and to fail to understand other people’s feelings and desires."

"For instance, studies have found that people given power in experiments are more likely to rely on stereotypes when judging others, and they pay less attention to the characteristics that define those other people as individuals. Predisposed to stereotype, they also judge others’ attitudes, interests, and needs less accurately"

"...power encourages individuals to act on their own whims, desires, and impulses. When researchers give people power in scientific experiments, those people are more likely to physically touch others in potentially inappropriate ways, to flirt in more direct fashion, to make risky choices and gambles, to make first offers in negotiations, to speak their mind..."

"...having power makes people more likely to act like sociopaths. High-power individuals are more likely to interrupt others, to speak out of turn, and to fail to look at others who are speaking. They are also more likely to tease friends and colleagues in hostile, humiliating fashion...most rude behaviors—shouting, profanities, bald critiques—emanate from the offices and cubicles of individuals in positions of power"

"Power may induce more harmful forms of aggression as well."

Just look at the Stanford Prison experiment. There were people assigned to be guards and people assigned to be prisoners. The guards became more aggressive. Even abusive of their powers and the prisoners. After the experiment, some guards were startled by the way they acted.

Anyway, I think I'll stay away from those in positions of power. Looking at the list of ways people can act when in such positions isn't very appealing.

me too.

i steer clear of positions of power.

i'd rather follow orders but only if the leader is a good person, has good morals and ethics and isn't corrupted by power.

Another startling things is what people would do to follow orders.
Another experiment was done where researchers told participants to use a machine to shock other 'participants' (who were actually researchers who only pretended to be shocked). The researcher told the person to keep gradually upping the voltage and then left. The participants then proceeded to go all the way to a fatal voltage just because they were told to. They would have KILLED someone just because of following orders. They could also see the other person (once again, who was only pretending) being affected by the shocks and not even that stopped them. All the participants were shocked that they would do this, after the experiment was over. Imagine a corrupt leader with a bunch of people who will kill just because they were told to, and then a lot of things in the world start to make more sense.

this is interesting to me, because I do notice a trend with men who are in power, many of them become corrupt and fall...

1) Hitler
2) Lance Armstrong
3) Tiger Woods
4) Arnold Schwarzenneger
5) O.J. Simpson

Most of those men never had any real power, they had celebrity status. Which leads me to conclude that you read too many tabloids, and that you've seen at least one WW2 movie. All these celebs did is what milions of other unknowm and non-powerful people are doing at this very moment, so clearly it has little to do with power or celeb status. And Hitler was by our standards corrupt long before his rise to power.

Needless to say, that's an extremely odd list given the topic.

i didn't include a long list, so Napolean, and other historical figures aren't in there.

But it doesn't matter if they are celebrities because people do give them power. Even if they are a football star/hero, or a famous golf player, people want their autograph and even children go "oooooooohhhh wow! so cool!"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_(social_and_political)

(this is worldly power)

In social science and politics, power is the ability to influence or control the behavior of people. The term "authority" is often used for power perceived as legitimate by the social structure. Power can be seen as evil or unjust, but the exercise of power is accepted as endemic to humans as social beings. In business, power is often expressed as being "upward" or "downward". With downward power, a company's superior influences subordinates. When a company exerts upward power, it is the subordinates who influence the decisions of their leader or leaders.[1]

Yes there are different levels of power. Your original post stated "men in power". I was going off of that premise with my definition.

I don't want to derail any further, carry on... 🙂

ok get on my ass for derailing, snap that virgo moon and taurus rising into me. 😆

but, honestly, alot of men in power do have social and political status as well. So this still fits in.

Political power.

People who "dictate" what type of shoes or make-up you wear have only real power over your wardrobe.

Political power = worst case scenario you gas 6 milions people todeath without anyone flinching. Real power.

Celeb status = worst case scenario you get really, really, really bummed when they cheat on their better halves.

"I thought he was a nice guy. I was gonna marry him one day" 😭

but celebrity status IS power.

if you all can't see that... i dont know then.
i feel they're very dependent on public opinion to be powerful.

look at tom cruise. biggest movie star in the world when he went crazy.

started going after his bosses and shit. then started acting up in public.

he has alot of influence through his years, i notice. People even write him in books too, and describe "tom cruise good looks" in there even if they aren't Americans. (U.S)

and he's a well known profile in alot of countries. That's having alot of clout.

He is still a powerful man in his own right.

Not as powerful as say, Sultan of Brunei or soemthing maybe.

that's really honestly narrow minded to think of celebrity status that way. There's alot of power they do have than just drama drama failed love stories.

Depends on character as someone else has said.
But i'm going to refer to the political/war part of it and how it affected the mind.

Power really messes with your mind. It leads to more confidence or i would say cockyness.
You feel in control, everyone does everything you say. You can murder people at the snap of your fingers.
You start to believe that you are the only one FIT to do this.At some point delusions about being a god.
Most people with such POWER did tend to be delusional. Thinking they are a god or protected by gods.

Power does make you into a sociopath. Based on our definitions of it.

When people speak about power they only look at the top power wielders.
We all have power as a individual. But it iis other people who empower us further.

I can even talk about familly right now.
Lot to say really, but so late.
but power MISUSED is bad.

individuals who have power, like say those who are in leader positions, who wield the strong INFLUENCE must have loving, and good intentions for people. Because it is FOR the people. Power is NEVER good for selfishness.

ego always fucks people up. ego is nothing but insecurity that lies in the back of your mind. if not, why try so hard to 'prove' anything? ego is fragile for a reason. if only people who let ego go and be themselves without caring about what the next person thinks of them. stop trying to 'look good' for other motherfuckers. that way, you live comfortably in your own skin without always feeling the need to show out and prove shit. once you let go, you truly enjoy life. no one has to tell you 'you're the man' in order for you to be a man.
