Aries is into this. He told me that in his previous relationships, his girlfriends needed a permission to leave the house and similar.
And he said he likes to show women “their place”. I imagine that place is somewhere beneath him.

There's a range and layers. There's a big difference between someone who is and enjoys dominating someone and someone thinking it's a game. It still needs to be mutually beneficial for the parties involved, otherwise it's just a mental health issue or unresolved mommy/daddy issues disguising as BDSM.

That's some sort of dominance related to a slave role, not sadism or masochism as such. If you are genuinely interested in knowing more The Loving Dominant and Screw The Roses Send Me The Thorns are great books. Also as anyone in the kink community will tell you there's more fake doms than anything else. I've met a few in my time.

For me, it’s something new and uncharted territory. I think of it as a fun game 😅

I'd be careful with that, because some really take it to an extreme.

Alex, what is slave role? What is sado masochism in a nutshell?
Simplified: Slave role is someone who has a Master (not a Dom although a Master is a Dom type) who controls (consensually) most of their time together from ordering in a restaurant through to "making" the slave clean his/her shoes or ordering him/her to give sexual pleasure. The films you see of people all in leather leading someone around on a collar is probably closest.
Masochism - deriving pleasure from receiving pain - receiving a spanking, whipping, or more extreme like piercing with pins. From the author of Venus In Furs Leopold von Sacher-Masoch.
Sadism - deriving pleasure from giving pain. The person doing the "punishment", "torture" etc. From Marquis De Sade author of many books.

Hm this reminds me if my Aries friend. She had Scorp bf who would ORDER her to show up in 10 minutes and she would RUN. He forbid her to drive in car with MY bf 🙄 instead she has to take a bus, despite the fact we're going in same direction. He bosses her around and she accepted it all...guess some people are into that stuff for whatever reason. I would look into Nessus position of that guy to see what his issues is but tbh whoever even talks about it I wound't bother sticking around them

That sounds more like an abusive relationship.
He was domineering. He never hurt her ofc or did any harm, he just wanted ro dominate her in that imo sick way. To simply make her obeyclick to expand

That isn’t healthy behaviour …
De Sade or Alphonse had a narrow urethra so he needed a lot of stimulation to be able to ejaculate according to one biography I read. Healthy or unhealthy his legacy is more influential than say Kit Marlowe on both pop culture and life style .
I fail to see the issue if it is mutually consensual, legal and not bat shit crazy.click to expand

What’s it about?
Do these people have psychological issues like control? I don’t understand what does that have to do with human sexuality, but apparently a lot.

I wonder how many men who practice sadism have deep routed issues with their mothers and are acting out their hang ups on women?

The Scorp ex was into this. I read the Roses/Thorns book that @alexscaries mentioned. Which is a decent read about what it’s about. But I was kinda like you @borednbeautiful like yeah, play along and check it out. I was bored by it. Very theatrical and just not my thing. He was ALL about it and that’s why he cheated because he needed his fix.
I do get that. It's a lot of work. With vanilla sex no matter how attractive the woman is or how good the sex is it feels like something is missing if it is the same thing over again.

Do you consider people to be 'less than' if you perceive them to have mental health issues?click to expand

I’m interested in the psychology behind it as I think bored maybe too?
It's physically impossible to ask everyone why they enjoy BDSM. Some might do it to make sense of abuse they have suffered and some may just enjoy it and find it exciting.click to expand

Not at all. The human psyche can be fragile and mental health issues can hit anyone … it can just be a part of the human condition.
I think the problem lies with the possibility of those issues being projected onto others which can happen when the person doesn’t seek help.click to expand

I’m interested in the smoke screen effect and fascinated by human behaviour that’s why I
asked so ….
Impossible to answer. I think some people just enjoy it on a surface level. You could mention the psychology of horror films: some people find them funny, some want to be scared, some find it therapeutic and cathartic that they are safe.
Not everyone who does BDSM is abused or damaged; maybe they just find it fun.click to expand
