Feeling that pulse in the ground.
Bare skin taking in the moisture from the blades,
The heat of the sun at my back.
The flowers dragging at me, tenderly.
Recognition of another child of Earth.
Blossoms falling at my feet.
Ivy twining its tendrils shyly round my finger.
Splayed hands on oak.
Closing my eyes and becoming one with the ageless tree.
Hearing his deep voice reverberate within me.
The Wisdom of Ancients.
Gentle hand on rough bark, I lean my forehead forward and give thanks.
The scamper and chatter of squirrels above.
The rough floor of dirt, leaf and fungi below.
Laying on my back I look up into the blue, blue sky.
The cry of crow, the piercing call of hawk.
Brothers, Sisters.
The tall grass all round, I turn over to my belly
To watch the trundle of ants, the low hum of the bee.
The flickering tongue of snake.
A world within another.
Soaking in, soaking in.
Picking up a heartbeat, a thrum.
A deer in the clearing.
Startled to find me there, eyes large and brown.
Hands drifting down, to pick up a rock and feel the heat of the sun
Meld with the cold.
Follow the path to the waters edge.
To glide through, watch the fishes flash.
Minnows nibble on toes.
Diving down, down.
Swimming with the joy of otter.
Laughing with delight, I spin round, round.
Breaking free from the lake to shake the water from my hair.
Put on a burst of speed to greedily feast on wild berries.
Clambering vines entangled, a thorn pierces me for my theft.
I nod to Lady Bramble and give myself to her.
A drop of blood in tribute for her gift of blossom and fruit.
Her leaves shake in laughter.
Recognition of another child of Earth.
