The Time Is

the time is august 28th,2005 and i am in New Orleans on top of a roof watching pieces of my life and human death float by me in the same violent current

they say the lady's name was Katrina and though i didn't meet her it seems she was hell bent on leaving the city in torment

that time is April 20th,1999 and its just a typical morning in my Colorado class

now i am in the library hiding under a table,the last thing i remember is seeing a flash and hearing a loud blast

the year is 2001 on a typical September day,
after i grab my morning coffee,a loud explosion hits the towers down the streets,in that few seconds it took,it left thousands of families a lifetime of pain and disarray
that same day i go back to my hotel and turn on the t.v.
the reporters say its terrorists attacks,my heart drops,they also strike in rural Pennsylvania and d.c.
the time is 2009 and its just another day,you see i am just a California doc
they bring a patient in suffering from cardiac arrest,i realize its Michael Jackson,we all just lost the "king of pop"
finally my journey takes me to Roseland,Illinois not to long back,i cant drive down the street its too packed,i see a lot of chaos and violence and a young man being hit with pipes and 2x4's under attack,his name is Mr. Derrion Albert and he lost his life brutally,simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time,i could only stomach watching the tape once,i cant imagine the pain of the family every time they turn on the news and see the rewind
the time is now and i begin to realize life is short
the time is now and i cant stand being alive,i complain and moan
the time is now,it hits me,all of us have plenty to be thankful for
