advice with aquarius

Today i was spending some time with my aqua man after not seeing each other for a week because i have been kinda busy. Yesterday i texted him saying to come over today because i miss him and want to see him. He came over during his lunch break and said he was surprised that i missed him. I dont understand why he said this because i always tell him i miss him when we're together. Maybe because i dont contact him much while we're apart. I hardly text or call him because i know they like their space and freedom. Ive also told him before that i am not one of those girls that will always blast a guy's phone up and that i will wait until he contacts me first which he usually does unless its important or i want to see him. Can someone please give me some advice on how to handle this situation. I really dont want him to think i dont miss him when i actually do. I am an aries and im not as affectionate or attached like the usual person with my aqua man could this also be a reason ?
