Your friend is right. Y'all are doing the same thing OP.
"Oh I still care about her let me say I'm in near her job" "Oh I still care about her let me reach out make jokes and see how she reacts" "Oh I still care about him let me flirt back"
BOTH SILLY! Neither one of y'all is brave enough to fully put yourself out there and address the elephant in the room. Instead you want to drop little hints here and there and hope that's enough to make things better. It doesn't. It creates more gray area. More gray area=more hesitation, more insecurity, more apprehension.
The man was out of town and still contacted you. So we know it wasn't a booty call. Plus, when people are out of town usually that's when think about your issues the least because it's a getaway, but he still contacted you. That wasn't fluke. He wanted to. He missed you. Y'all both have been missing each for some time but y'all are letting a lot of time slip through your fingers because y'all are too scared to speak up.
Even if y'all talked every day for the next week it still won't get better until you address the elephant in the room. Do it OP. Have that conversation because until one of you steps up it won't change. Y'all both obviously care about each other so just do it.
