When both teams are strong ( like Germany and Argentina are) they dont let each other score anything.....and that leads to penalty stage....

Like England is a good team and they played really well today but Portugal is good too and so itz really hard to beat them...i have never seen any team score like 10 goals coz all the teams that r playin in the world cup are very Strong otherwise they wouldnt have qualified to play the WC ....

Eliza you're really into the World Cup! Fair play 2u. I only have a very passing interest in soccer but enjoy the World Cup. I keep hearing that France is bad but they did very well in their last two matches and they've got some very good players like Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry. But yeah I noticed that they exceeded people's expectations in their matches against Spain and Brazil. Allez Allez Le Francais! Ah no I don't really mind who wins. If Ireland had qualified obviosusly it would be a different matter tho ;P

...one silly mistake of a player or goal keeper has the team kicked out....and thats wat happened with Brazil today.... one silly mistake... jeeezzz....

I agree the outcome is really never set in the World Cup. That's the beauty of the game and the competition.
But Brazil was absolutely mediocre today...absolutely. I don't know what happened!!
They started playing badly in the competition, picked up a bit and I thought that they were going to keep it up. But their performance was aweful, especially today. What with the coach only introducing new players in the field in the last 15 minutes of the game! Football is not a game that is won in the last minutes. It demands careful planning and strategizing. A team only rarely wins last minute and under extreme circumstances! that is to level the score and then go over it to win against france today. It would have been better if they'd lost on penalty as with Argentina, cause then it really depends on one player. But throughout the game, winning/losing depends on the entire team although one or two players come off as the stars of the day.

u can never really predict the outcome of WC coz one silly mistake of a player or goal keeper has the team kicked out....and thats wat happened with Brazil today.... one silly mistake... jeeezzz....

Well spoken Eliza you can never predict the world cup totally...
But I don't agree that it was on silly mistakes that caused Brazil's lost yesterday. They were not playing well at all...from the beginning of the tournament though they'd somewhat picked up...
Also, football is not a sport that is won in the last moments of the game, unless God is watching out for you or there is a huge gap between the teams.
The Brazilian coach waited for the last minutes of the game to introduce new players and change tactics...it's unforgivable.
But anyway, thought you'd be interested in this NY times article:

Actually Brazil lost because of Parreira's OVERCONFIDENCE if nothing else:
"I wasn't prepared for defeat," said Brazil's coach, Carlos Alberto Parreira. "It never crossed my mind we wouldn't come to the final. It's a very hard moment."

so germany lost in the semi-finals today *sigh*. would have been great to be in the finals in our home country, but for some reason, i'm not that sad. semis were more than i had expected. and i felt so sorry for england, they played a great game considering they were only 10 ppl for the most part. and then they lost in the shoot out. hope france wins the cup, to give zidane the farewell he deserves (i'm not a big fan of the french team, but zidane is one of the best football-players, he has those moments of magic).
