I feel you're looking for something (someone) to fill a void maybe?
You set yourself up for heartbreak when you do things like this. You're analytical nature is going to always make you question EVERYTHING.

When they still have feelings for you. But are aware it'll never work? Recently a college ex bf came back into my life via FB; I initiated contact just saying hello- he seemed happy to hear from me but distant and reserved too. We had a serious relationship and plans for the future. I think maybe the break up was so damaging and hard that maybe it's too hard to stay friends?
