i'm in a weird, and complicated situation, involving my aries buddy that i've known for approximately 13 years.
we were always just friends. i'd like to keep it that way. his best friend happens to be the man i'm in love with (though this guy is with another so nothing has happened). they both have been tight friends for just as long. after we graduated high school (in 2000) we all went our separate ways. in 2007 we had a per chance re-union and the best friend and i instantly hit it off (i repeat, nothing has happened). aries started coming around again during last winter when things became rocky between his friend and i. he suddenly started randomly calling me/texting me to go out to places with him or just to talk. he did this regularly about a couple times a week for months. slowly in the beginning of this year, aries's friend and i started to re-kindle and re-build the relationship.
then my best friend had his birthday celebration in may. the significance here is that this was the day our re-union happened. it was marked like an anniversary for aries's friend and i. aries did not attend the party (my best friend can't stand him) but his friend did. that was probably one of the most amazing nights in my entire life. aries's friend and i were all over each other (not sexually, but intimately). we sang to each other, danced with each other for a couple of hours straight, and were very affectionate.
aries has not contacted me since that night. i've randomly texted him a couple of times since because he just seemed to fall off the face of the earth. he always responds but it's like he wants nothing to do with me now. i hung out with his friend last month and i told him of my concern over this matter. his friend looked amused, said "huh", and i think i even noticed the slightest bit of a smile for a second. the odd thing is that aries is supposedly bi and his friend is convinced that he's way more into men than women. i should trust that, right? they've been best friends for 13+ years!
my questions are: could he possibly have strong feelings towards me? is he avoiding me now because he knows it'll never happen?
