What generational placements affect music genres for a certain period/decade?

I am grouping the years from 1956 to present based on the kind of music genres that became on trend in the past:

1956-63 rock n' roll
1963-73 swinging sixties plus the beatles
1973-83 groovy seventies, jazz and relaxing music
1983-93 electrifying eighties, unconventional hair style s and new wave
1994-2003 alternative rock era
2003-present —

IMO this is not an interesting article because of the way he went about it, but a lot of people like cold hard stats and empirical approach on here
