I 'secretly' care about my social status and if I'm worthy enough in the eyes of others. I concur with the last line though. 😢

Sun in 12th House
Finding yourself in the abyss. Not for the faint at heart this position of the Sun. It may take you much self-analysis to get to your core which remains hidden from everyone, sometimes even from yourself. But an inner vitality is always there, just below the surface, waiting to get out. Have faith. It might take a large transit to bring what you know consciously into the language where it can be expressed.

I don't think it's necessarily a reference to money, or traditional "status" like a country club membership, or something.
It may just mean a determination to be the best at what you do-- and possibly, being recognized as a leader-- nothing wrong with that.
10th House Sun

No wonder you're chronically compelled to impress the powers that be.
