It seems that a lot of people want astrology to be literal....

But there's almost always a certain margin of error. It's energies meeting, or moving away, like Pluto transiting MC can mean death of the father, or loss of a job or reputation. And in some cases none of those happen...it's just that another part of the chart is more important....and said planet associated with said house has no effect, cause it's not part of the narrative. You have to look at the chart like a whole 'ensemble'. Your genome only incarnates when the planets are ligned up right, in some cases it's not right, but the house distribution can work something out, baby decides to be born at a certain time...it's all about rythms. The rythms of the parents and their desire to have sex or conceive consciously, will match the ideal planetary positions 9 months later...if it's not right, the pregnancy won't take....and if both parties are fully healthy and fertile they might not want to have sex at a certain time, or they'll fight, or wtv.....it's all about rythm of life. So if some things don't work out in the chart look at the rest, there's a reason, there's always a logic to the chart.

I agree. Also our ways of measuring the stars can't be totally accurate but the interpretation we give them usually stand
Yeah it's not about measuring stars is it...they've divided the sky in 12 equal parts, based on season, and based on the traits they observed in people. It's not aligned with the stars, it's more like a dome surrounding the solar system. Which is a few light minutes away.....not dozens or thousands of light years away, which is the distance of the stars.

Yep I meant it can't be literal because we base our placements off of signs and coordinates that are not exact. It's the interpretations that matter. For example being born right on a cusp, you would likely figure someone's sign by their personality here on earth rather than the exact measure of their sign.

That's why "science" argues for procesional slippage (the fact that the constellations are not where they were in the sky 2000 years ago) but we all know a Scorpio vs a Libra

Same way that the equinox and seasons don't change. The stars effects are not moving, the perception of them is however

Oh well the constellations don't really matter, cause some are around 20deg, others are 40deg....and there are 88 visible constellations...we only selected 12. They really just serve as markers. We do seasonal astrology. It's all relative to a dome around the solar system, not stars many light years away. Their effect wouldnt reach us over such distances.

Its very abstract and is more about possibilities. Like I use whole sign house system because it has been far more correct than any other system even for transits. Doesn't mean other systems are wrong or mine is the end all be all its just this one works best. Gotta keep an open mind
I find the interecpted houses to be spot on, but maybe the equal house system gives insights you can't have with the other one.

I totally agree with you. It seems people want to be economical with Astrology. For example here: http://skyscript.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8695, the OP says "all I am good for, is being a slave to other people.....and cleaning.", as a Virgo Sun.
Well l can't help but agree...Virgo usually does being out this kind of personality...clean freak. It's good, it's the energetic part of the zodiac, it's why we have sacred holidays in December, society wants as many Virgos as possible.

Can you explain a little how? Using the whole house system would place my Venus in the 11th house instead of the 12th so I'd be interested in learning more about this.

Well l don't know much about it....but in the unequal house system there are intercepted signs, that dont appear on the cusps, they start and end within a house. And you can read what that means, said house and said sign intercepted. And it's really spot on, for me, and a few others. I havent actually drawn my equal house chart...l might go and do it.

Ok l just checked my equal house chart, and it seems to apply to my mum's education, what she brout to the table. Unqueal house is my dad. I kind of fight one way of thinking with another. Example Saturn 3rd tends to make me depressed, but in unequal house it's in 2nd, so sometimes l'm just not thinkin about heavy stuff, l put my efforts (Saturn) into my possessions(2nd) house, and l'm no longer depressed (Saturn 3rd).
