I have formed a theory on how planet and sign ranking in Pullen works(not exactly, but part of the principle behind it) and I'd love to hear if you agree or disagree and why.

My theory:

1. Ascendents are not taken much into account as they don't influence any part of the rest of the chart, except possibly for the chart ruler and its placement.

2. The higher ranked and the faster moving the planet in question is, the lower ranked the sign that planet falls into becomes in the sign ranking - the reason being that they will influence the rest of the chart less and at the same time be more influenced by other (more slow moving) planets, making the original energy less prominent.

It seems to be working for my chart and for a few friends' charts. What do you think?

Hmm explain #2 a little more..
Sure.🙂

Planet ranking is determined to a high degree by how the planet in question is aspected. Let's take the fastest moving "planet" and put that as nr 1 in planet ranking. That would mean that it is heavily aspected(at least in comparison to the other planets)...meaning that since it is the fastest moving planet, it will not be influencing any other planet, but instead be influenced itself by the planets it touches...making the original energy less prominent.

Let's say that the same planet was ranked lower, it would be less aspected, hence, less influenced by other planets and therefore more"clean" in it's energy...which would rank the sign that planet is placed in higher in the sign ranking(in comparison to the high ranking example).

Do I make any sense?🙂

Sure. I have moon and rising in gemini and gemini is ranked nr 12(yup, that's right, number t-w-e-l-v-e) in the sign ranking. My moon is heavily aspected and is the fastest moving "planet".

do i fit your theory? venus is no.1, most aspected. venus moves pretty fast right?

Planet: Position Aspects Total Rank Percent
Sun: 47.5 ( 6) + 12.0 ( 7) = 59.5 ( 6) / 9.1%
Moon: 55.0 ( 5) + 14.3 ( 6) = 69.3 ( 5) / 10.6%
Mercury: 42.0 ( 7) + 16.1 ( 5) = 58.1 ( 7) / 8.9%
Venus: 90.0 ( 1) + 23.3 ( 2) = 113.3 ( 1) / 17.4%
Mars: 75.0 ( 2) + 11.9 ( 8) = 86.9 ( 3) / 13.3%
Jupiter: 15.0 ( 8) + 18.6 ( 4) = 33.6 ( 8) / 5.2%
Saturn: 62.5 ( 4) + 23.3 ( 3) = 85.8 ( 4) / 13.1%
Uranus: 10.0 (10) + 0.0 (10) = 10.0 (10) / 1.5%
Neptune: 15.0 ( 9) + 11.2 ( 9) = 26.2 ( 9) / 4.0%
Pluto: 67.0 ( 3) + 28.9 ( 1) = 95.9 ( 2) / 14.7%
Chiron: 7.0 (11) + 0.0 (11) = 7.0 (11) / 1.1%
Node: 7.0 (12) + 0.0 (12) = 7.0 (12) / 1.1%
Total: 493.0 + 159.6 = 652.6 / 100.0%

Sign: Power Rank Percent - Element Power Percent
Aries: 81.8 ( 3) / 12.5% - Fire: 141.9 / 21.7%
Taurus: 96.2 ( 2) / 14.7% - Earth: 181.1 / 27.8%
Gemini: 33.4 ( 8) / 5.1% - Air: 120.9 / 18.5%
Cancer: 18.7 (11) / 2.9% - Water: 208.7 / 32.0%
Leo: 44.1 ( 6) / 6.8%
Virgo: 23.5 ( 9) / 3.6% - Mode Power Percent
Libra: 65.5 ( 4) / 10.0% - Cardinal: 227.4 / 34.8%
Scorpio: 154.9 ( 1) / 23.7% - Fixed: 317.1 / 48.6%
Sagittarius: 15.9 (12) / 2.4% - Mutuable: 108.0 / 16.6%
Capricorn: 61.4 ( 5) / 9.4%
Aquarius: 21.9 (10) / 3.4%
Pisces: 35.2 ( 7) / 5.4%
Total: 652.6 / 100.0%
Yes, it moves pretty fast, but it's not the fastest. it depends on if it aspects slower moving or faster moving planets and also it's in comparison to what it would have been otherwise. I mean, maybe you have a ton of stuff in taurus and in the second house and would have gotten high ranking anyway...now just a little less.

Not sure how well I explained this...😢

That's interesting. I thought it was houses... I have no Scorpio but it's ranked 2! Because I have sun, moon, Mercury, NN, Chiron in 8th house? Or. Is it something else?

I'm fascinated!

Btw HappyCapper what are your dominant signs? 🙂 can't remember if you mentioned it.
It's houses as well, yes. I'd say that's the major reason why scorpio is that highly ranked for you.

1. Scorpio 2. Capricorn 3. Virgo

Btw I should add that I feel so much like a Pisces it's ridiculous but it's ranked 9 I think.
My top three are Virgo, Scorpio and Capricorn. But I don't relate much to Virgo or Capricorn :/
I know a bunch who don't relate to their dominants at all, so I'm kinda lost lol
Hehehe Well, do you have a heavily aspected neptune?
I'll list my aspects to the lovely Neptune ..

Neptune Conjunction Ascendant 9°07' 7

Uranus Conjunction Neptune 5°48' 126

Mars Opposition Neptune 6°38' -42

Mercury Trine Neptune 4°38' 63

Sun Trine Neptune 4°59' 45

Neptune in the first house

F.Y.I. According to a scientific theory called "Bode's Law", Neptune and Pluto are not part or within our solar system, the Moon's Nodes are not significant as they're only calculated points, there are way too many House CUSP Systems to be a serious matter, and forget about asteroids and the like.
THE BASIS AND ONLY REASON ASTROLOGY EXISTS AND WORKS IS BECAUSE OF THE PLANETS AND THEIR ENERGIES...NO PLANETS, NO ASTROLOGY, THE BASIS IS BEST.

Hmm. Do you seriously suggest that Neptune and Pluto do not exist?

Regarding Bode's Law, I thought it was the other way around:

"The hypothesis correctly anticipated the orbits of Ceres (in the asteroid belt) and Uranus, but failed as a predictor of Neptune's orbit and has since been discredited further."

And when you say that no planets, no astrology, I agree, but do you mean there are no planets? Please explain further, because I really don't get it.

According to my theory, position matters. Maybe not as much as the aspects column, but I have no figures to prove this by - just my own assumptions.

I'm sorry to say that my theory doesn't stretch as fas as the chart ruler - I haven't yet seen a presumed connection there. Do you think my theory would be applicable to your chart otherwise?

Do think it works with your chart?
I just found out that there's a column for the number of aspects in the pullen chart -.- , I was trying to count them one by one by myself 😭

anyway, Pluto position is 1 I have 10 aspects in there, my node position is 12 and I have 12 aspects in there -the one with most aspects- so it kinda does!

I think node and chiron aren't important, right?

It's weird with NN and Chiron. First of all, I*m not sure I buy into asteroids at all, but maybe some work, idk. But I do know this: my Chiron is definitely aspected...but placed as nr 11 in "planet" ranking. My theory is that NN and Chiron won't be of much influence to the rest of the chart unless veeery well aspected with veeery tight orbs...which would place them low on the ranking list.

Ooo! Good you found out!😄

Well, Pluto is the slowest moving "planet" which would make it pretty much unaffected by external influences no matter how many aspects it makes, as I see it.

Not necessarily. Slower moving planets influence faster moving planets, not so much the other way around. So for instance:

Let's assume that a libra moon(the fastest moving "planet") is highly ranked in planet ranking. That probably means that it is aspected by slower moving planets...which makes the moon influenced by those other planets, so it's not just a libra moon, but a libra moon with, let's say, Neptunian and Plutonian and Uranian influences...which makes the moon energy on the whole less libra, but instead libra with Neptunian, Uranian and Plutonian energies.

If the libra moon was pretty much unaspected, the energy of that moon would be very "clean" - it would not be influenced by any other energy, hence the moon is a libra moon...period. ...and libra should therefore rank higher in sign ranking in comparison to the libra moon with external aspects(i.e. influences) in the example above.

In regards to ranking. So you're saying less aspected planets are stronger?

Let me clarify:

According to my theory, an unaspected Pluto influences a chart a lot less than an unaspected moon does, so you have to look at how fast/slowly moving the planets are.

Yes, I see now that only Neptune doesn't fit into this theory...It's just like my opinion, so, I don't pay alot of attention to Neptune or Pluto (since it was found to be a rock and not a planet by nature) and I read in an Astrology book just the other day where the author said uote, "Without the PLANETS there would be no ASTROLOGY. Astrology, modern day, is based upon the planets....so just food for thought, imagine drawing up a natal chart if this Universe had no planets revolving around the Sun. And, for that matter, I wonder if we could not include the Earth in a natal chart?

In 1768, Bode published his popular book, “Anleitung zur Kenntnis des gestirnten Himmels” [Instruction for the Knowledge of the Starry Heavens]. In this book, he described an empirical law on planetary distances, originally found by J.D. Titius (1729-96), now called “Bode’s Law” or “Titius-Bode Law”.

The original formula was:
a = ( n + 4 ) / 10
where n=0, 3, 6, 12, 24, 48, 96, 192, 384, …

To find the mean distances of the planets, begin with the following simple sequence of numbers:
0 3 6 12 24 48 96 192 384 …
These numbers (after 0) derive from the Pascal’s triangle as the sum of a row added to the sum of the previous row:

Row 1: 2+1=3
Row 2: 4+2=6
Row 3: 8+4=12
Row 4: 16+8=24
Row 5: 32+16=48
Row 6: 64+32=96
Row 7: 128+64=192
Row 8: 256+128=384

Next, add 4 to each number and you will get:
4 7 10 16 28 52 100 196 388
Then divide it by 10:
0.4 0.7 1.0 1.6 2.8 5.2 10.0 19.6 38.8

The resulting sequence is very close to the distribution of mean distances of the planets from the Sun
expressed in Astronomical Units (A

Regarding Pluto, I feel it's just a question of semantics. I totally get your point with it being small and astronomically not very significant. However, astrology sounds pretty darn illogical too. I mean, listen to this: "the planet's positions at the moment you were born tell you about your personality." I mean, really? The only reason I keep studying astrology is that, however illogical it sounds, it does actually work far more often than I would have liked. So, yes, Pluto may seem insignificant, but it actually helps describing me and others quite accurately(imo), and I don't argue with success. 🙂

If we want to debate the semantics of planets vs. non-planets, we should discuss the sun and the moon as well. Are you willing to remove them from astrology too? Imo, who cares what they are called - the question is: does it work?

Yes, it's a neat formula...but it still didn't work, seeing as it couldn't describe the whereabouts of Neptune.

My sun has no aspects. Its unaspected(in the chart..by degrees). Its energy would be "clean" and thus would shine brighter?

We are talking about strong in comparison. Your scorpio is probably strong due to your scorpio stellium. The Pisces is probably due to a second stellium(if you count three planets as a stellium, ofc) The capricorn is probably due to planets plus 10th house placements. And I'm willing to swear that aries would be your fourth. It's all in comparison to other energies and scorp, pisces and cap just happened to be stronger signs in your chart. As I understand and remember it. I may have forgotten elements of your chart, though. If I have, please tell me.

What I don't understand is...there are no aspects with my Sun. It's just lying there all alone.

Buuuuut, it's near my MC, Sun is at 8 degrees and my MC is in pisces at 27 degrees could that be a reason? Sun is also in 10th house 😕

And... Saturn being up there is understandable becayse, it makes many aspects. Neptune...again.. I don't understand.

But my mars also makes equally many aspects like Saturn, both are in pisces,..but Saturn holds lower degree...hmm...

Why are Neptune up there? What gave it so much power lol.

Why is Pluto up there too?my moon is also in scorpio, and its is moon in this case that holds lower degree. Jupiter alsooooooo, it's also in scorpio. Why not Jupiter.

Do you want me to provide degrees or post my chart? 🙂

Thankyou btw 🙂
