Sloane,

I found this good site on bullies, just to vindicate what you went through with that woman at work. This is just a snippet of the info available on the site:

"Power over people

The serial bully is able to exert a hold over people for a variety of reasons.

Targets are disempowered such that they become dependent on the bully to allow them to get through each day without their life being made hell.

The serial bully is often able to bewitch an emotionally needy colleague into supporting them; this person then becomes the bully's spokesperson and advocate. How people can be so easily and repeatedly taken in by the bully's glib charm, Jekyll and Hyde nature, and constant lying is a mystery".

The web address is:

http://www.bullyonline.org/workbully/serial.htm

And it is very spot on.

Oh yeah, click on the 'serial bully' link to see profile of typical bully. It's really scarey stuff, to see what motivates these people.

Libra Girl...I checked out that site and Wow..you're right, the stuff they talk about is right on the money. As I read some excerpts, I immediately thought of some real miserable characters I had worked with, went to school or lived with that fit the "descrptions" but also, I learned about myself--of how I let these dispicable people run all over me. Never again. I've learned my lesson. I've been a doormat before--not that I tried to be but I can see where I should of defended myself. Thank you for the site info!!

Oooo, sorry to hear that Libra Girl. But stand up to him. If he doesn't like it, too bad. He has to know that you can't be pushed around. Is he like this with your Mom too?
