Capricorns often regain motivation by focusing on setting small achievable goals, practicing self-care, and grounding routines. Taking breaks and prioritizing work-life balance can help manage stress and restore focus during challenging times.

When I'm in a funk, I'll give myself a wallow. Everybody needs a good wallow from time to time. Down time to recharge the batteries. As for staying motivated, I hafta mentally turn things into a competition and that does it for me. Oddly competitive. Balance? Wtf is that?!

@cheekyfaerie
Thanks for the insight. I'm trying to give up wallowing. For me its a very comfortable place to be.
But then it becomes an issue of how do I unwallow? And then my husband gets crabby when I'm wallowing. And him crabby + me wallowing isn't pretty.. Lol
Right now I'm trying to pull it together and compartmentalize. One task at a time and I'm not allowed to think about other tasks while doing it.
For me my biggest issue at work is that I always have this haunting feeling like if Im not always on top of it either something is going to go wrong or I'm missing out on an opportunity.
On also working on lists to help me compartmentalize. And the lists help me compete against myself. I definitely get the whole competition need lol
@happycapper thanks for your insight. No its not boring. im beginning to see its the little things that helpers.
@cheekyfaerie. That's us cappies, stubborn and uunwilling to give up. I guess I should just get used to the stress... Its part of my industry.
*that helps
@OP
You seem to be stuck in a rut and seem ready to get out of it. I actually just wrote about this in another thread. What I do is to overdo the wallowing. Exaggerate it. Be overly dramatic. Feel really really sorry for yourself to the point where it becomes ridiculous. At some point you are bound to be so irritated by your own behaviour that you automatically force yourself out of it. Do it on your own, though. Sounds weird, I know, but it actually works...at least on me.
Warning! If you are borderline depressed, don't do it - may send you over the edge!
@cheekyfaerie
Thanx. 🙂
CapricornLaurie,
I'm in the same boat. I feel down lately, feeling like so many things are on my shoulder that I can't take a break from. I'm fed up with stuff but can't find my way out. This been going on from January 2015. I tried exercising and eating right to the point that I don't care anymore. I just eat then take a long walk. Nothing seems to take this down-feeling out of me.
I'm not a Capricorn though. I'm a Virgo.
I'm sorry I don't have any solution for you. Just want you to know that you're not alone.
@VirgoDragirl
I agree with cheekyfaerie. Baby steps. And writing lists has helped me as well - I've been there too. Here's something that always makes me feel just a little bit better - maybe it works for you too.
I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud by William Wordsworth
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
and twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretched in never-ending line
along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
in such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
what wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
Take care. 🙂
for the emotional cloud that's passing through... i just let it run it's course. like cheeky said, let it out.
for motivation... setting goals for the month. nothing brings about the drive like a good goal to try and hit.
a lot of times progress begets progress for me. all i have to do is just get started, but sometimes that IS the hardest part. which is very good news.
you could try "intention-manifestation" ...saying something 3 times like "i'm going to the gym this afternoon. i'm going to the gym this afternoon. i'm going to the gym this afternoon." i've read about it... haven't tried it yet though.

How do you get yourself up and going again?
I'm in the middle of a really difficult transaction at work and I feel like it is taking over my life! I really shouldn't give it this much weight but I feel like other aspects of work/life are falling to the wayside.
Wondering how other caps deal with stress, self-motivation, work/life balance when things get tough..
Thanks in advance for the responses
