I hate to say this but if you've had an "on/off relationship," that means he was never really invested in the relationship. I've been drawn into these kinds of relationships in the past and a) they always left me wondering how the man felt b) led to feelings of insecurity c) had blissful moments of connection followed by no contact and d) never worked out. You need to move on from this man. Get out and meet new people. Join activities that interest you. Find peace in yourself. And wait for a man whose got more to offer. There's no happiness down this road.

I agree with this. Dont let the occasional glimpse of 'what could be' rob you of the real thing. It may appear to be worth it, but its most likely not.

I've had an on again, off again relationship with a Cap male for a while now. He says he loves me but his actions don't always show it. I feel lost and confused and so decided to go NoContact for a while, mostly to try to get my wits about me.
He's reached out a couple of times since then and we've spoken briefly, but I feel so hurt that I just feel like shutting down. I don't feel strong enough to verbalize any of this to him right now and so I'm just holding back.
Any advice or suggestions that you think could help me would be much appreciated.
