My great-grandmother is 96 this year. And up until about a year ago she was still in excellent health and took care of herself independently. (She is still in very sound mind - she's wittier than I am.)
She since has been having problems swallowing and walking. Eventually they had to hospitalize her because she couldn't eat or drink and was severly dehydrated.
They night my mom came back from the hospital visiting her she had a dream in which my great-grandmother was standing on her porch at her house waving at my mom like she would always do when we would leave her house. My mom just kept saying how eerie it felt. It was a sunny day and there was a swallow-tail butterfly flying past and my great-grandmother had a huge smile on her face.
I personally think it was God trying to prepare my mother for the passing of my great-grandmother. She said although it was eerie - it was also comforting. (I'm sure she will remember this dream when my great-grandmother does pass away and will feel happy for her rather than sad.)
