It really depends - probably not communicating. No relationship is perfect and it really annoys me when a person shuts up their concerns in their own head. They usually filter out in unrelated areas and it leaves you clueless as to what the real problem is.
what makes you think there is a problem? maybe they just want to think about stuff? you ought to try it!
