What could possibly be the reasons why? Barring sleep, food in mouth, or unconscious..
I would only stop talking to someone who hurt me real bad.
I wouldn't speak to that person until i get my head clear and my feelings flat. Once a gemini starts speaking to you again (which can take some time), that means they have no 'romantic' feelings left for you. we can stay very close friends, go out, spend time together, but when it's finished, it's finished.

One reason for me, to become silent, is because I have had a thought pop into my mind and I am now in a deep day dream. This actually happens quite often lol.

Possibly. Or heartbreak. trying to figure out which one, trying to figure out what I did to break their heart. 😢 In gem logic, that is.
I have a Scorp venus btw and Cappy sun. I get the feeling our principles are very different, I just can't quite put a finger on it.

a boring conversation
when i'm tired, i simply want to rest and be left alone.
when someone i love has hurt me, i want to analyze it to death and go into my "leave me alone" frame of mind.
when i'm energetic and ready to get something done, I can go into my "tunnel vision" mode and complete my task at 100 mph. IE: when I'm at work getting things done or at the gym. Even my husband can't talk to me when I'm working out. I shut everyone and everything out except my iPod cranked up and connected to my Beats headphones.
when i'm sad and can't bust out of my "woe is me" frame of mind. I hate this the most. Sometimes it just takes my black lab, Rocky, to come up to me, give me a nudge on the hand, and I get off my rear end and take him for a walk. This always makes me feel better.
when i'm overload from stress. i'm not one who completely shuts down and hides in the bedroom sleeping my life away. often, when i'm stressed, i do things that keep me busy and my mind off of the stress.
honestly, i would think most people, no matter the sign, go through many of the same things i do. we're all human afterall.

a boring conversation
Very true. If I'm intellectually bored, I tune out. If someone can stimulate my mind, I tune in.
This happens a lot at work. My co worker is half my age. She is completely void of any real knowledge and has no clue what's going on in the world around her. She's basically totally apathetic. Her life revolves around Facebook, texting and going out to bars with her friends.
When she says something to me that's not work related, my brain goes numb. She's a nice person and all, but it's grating when you're around someone for 8 hours who lives in a life of fantasy and facades. When I walk out of the office, it's like receiving a breath of fresh air by getting in my car and turning on some local talk radio simply to stimulate my neurons.
Well, it's been three weeks and not a single word. Except for a text saying he was in a bad head space and really disconnected. Is this how gems get when they're distraught? Just not say a word or go into their own world? I'm not sure if he even likes me anymore. Why should it matter? Because we were in constant communication even if it was only a few texts a day. I understand people get into moods sometimes, but you can't just go away and leave people for dead. 😢 Gemmmss! 'splain yourselves! (haha, no don't I'm kidding). sigh.
Gemini is still hiding out. Ok, he's not actually a gemini, just gem rising and venus with Taurus sun. His emotions are very gemini though, I have noticed that. Why am I not detached? Because I don't just leave, which is what I may need to do. I think I just need some intelligent things to say to this person to get them out of their funk.

I can't speak for all Gemini's, but I get really quiet around someone I don't like, or if i'm just not in the mood....which changes like 10 minutes later lol!

I do agree we as Gemini's are exactly like that once you hurt us we will stop talking to you and if we do start back talking to you. It doesn't mean we got those same feelings for you cause we don't we just like to be friends with you that's all. I thought I was the only Gemini that felt like that

try to think of something you said that may have offended or hurt your gem. people can talk to me and not think anything of it, but then i'll catch a little something that gets me thinking and i'll over analyze it to no end, cutting them off in the process.
A gemini will go silent when they're on the fence about something. They haven't made up their mind or your misinterpreting their silence cuz we all need down time sometimes.

From my observation of Gems,
They stop talking if you have hurt them/if they are just not in the mood/simply dealing with something bad that they don't want to share with you. One of my close friend did that.
This after seeing a lot of Gems in my life.
