Ok I have been very tired lately and thought I ws getting alot of sleep but then I have broken sleep alot so maybe that's it. Taking loads of pick up vitamins like B's or Chia seeds. i also am suppose to wear glasses when I drive etc but my eyes arent that bad so dont use them unless the weather is hazardous. And yes, I've noticed it when I'm a little stressed with my situation the last month, which causes lack of sleep too...thanks guys, thought it was going to be something that I would have to live with from now...thank goodness it's not!

SH - There are three nevers that control eye movement. My question would be where is the twitch happening in the eye? All three nerves 3rd, 4th, and 6th are located in the center of the brain which would lead me to question, have you had any head traumas? Car accident? Ear or Eye Infections? Or any other illness that are effected by nerves i.e. meningitis?

My suggestion is if massage is not doing the trick try going to a chiropractor and getting a cervical spine adjustment (C1 through C7) and see if that helps. I would also suggest seeking a massage therapist who speacializes in cranialsacral therapy. They focus on the entire spine. Seriously ....it could be something as simple as a an adjustment will help with normal nerve function.

Caffine, stress, lack of sleep, and prolonged staring into a computer could also contribute to what are called muscle spasms. So change those behaviors if indicated. If you are getting chronic headaches with the eye twitching ...muscles could also be an indicator ...which a massage not only around eye ...but around upper back and neck muscles will help that too.

If it is not getting better after the suggested .....than it could be more serious.

Hope you feel better. 🙂

Thanks PD, that could explain things. I need to see my osteo, have put it off for a little bit as it isnt niggling too much but I do have neck and middle back probs. Neck was slightly out and it has travelled down the spine but not enough to warrent a trip to him...Might have to reconsider that and see how it goes. The twitch has been here for nearlt 3 weeks and getting rather annoying!

SH - Your welcome. Beware of doctors recommending surgery right away. The key is if it is spine out of alignment ....most likey muscles are out of balance as well. That is where chiro and massage go well hand in hand. Those neck muscles are a bugger. I see a lot of clients with chronic migranes ....and it is all in the neck with Sternocleidomastoid (BIG ONE), scalenes, Upper Trapezius, levator scapula. I would always suggest making surgery a last resort. Another thing I just thought of is TMJ a.k.a grinding teeth at night can cause all kinds of muscle dysfunction.

BTW - usually these ailments are caused by repetitive motion even if you sit at a desk all day. Sorry I am going on and on ....I love this stuff. *Sigh*

Here is a good photo of neck muscles....so you can see what I am talking about.
