Damn button..
Anywho... I was wondering how healthy diet pills actually are. I've thought about taking some diet "supplements" recently but I'm sorta dragging my feet because I don't want to be taking what alot of people has described them to be as "legal speed". I'm strictly anti-drug and I even frown upon taking asprin and such. I'm just having a hard time losing the weight I want to. For some reason the more I want to lose the more I freaking eat!! I just wanted something to curb my appetite a little. But I'm not taking anything that is harmful to me.
I'm in a slump with my diet and frankly I feel like shit about myself. 😢

Don't resort to pills. A healthy balanced diet and exercise is all you need.

You're not even fat, in fact, you're quite thin. Whats going on? Perhaps it isn't the weight you should be focusing on.

I agree completely with this statement.

If you start to get hungry drink water. It curbs your appetite for a while because sometimes your body messes with you. Some people think they're hungry when really they're just dehydrated/thirsty. It's also more effective than diet pills. Diet pills require you to cycle so that you don't overdo them. And by cycling I don't mean riding a bike I mean as in taking them periodically at certain intervals. I've known a lot of people who've taken diet pills and thought that taking a couple would be enough and they slowly wasted away throughout the day because they didn't have anything solid to munch on. It's more of a hassle than just plain drinking water. On some days you'll feel more bloated than other days because you'll be retaining more water than usual so just exercise and sweat the extra water weight off.

"I'm with Ms. P. You sound like a wannabe anorexic . "

Hmmm... charming. Usually I try to steer clear of being the overly sensitive type but this hit a little too close to home. There is no "wannabe" to it sb. I've struggled with an eating disorder before. I wound up in a hospital and then counseling my junior year of high school because of it. So forgive me for not laughing if you were indeed trying to be funny.

Ms.P... it's an on going struggle and I'm trying to stay on the healthy side of things. The line between being toned and fit and unhealthy thin seem to blur with me. I do try very hard and this is one area in my life that I can't seem to take control of. I'm very obsessive when it comes to my body. I can't seem to find a happy medium and I yoyo alot.
Luckily I've taken a few steps of mastering it. I won't weigh myself anymore because that seems to trigger unhealthy behavior if the number isn't to my liking.
I ask if diet pills are healthy to try and stay away from distructive behavior. It seems they are not healthy. Good to know. I'll steer clear.
Thank you all for the helpful suggestions.

*sigh* I was asking if they were HEALTHY because I want to try to be HEALTHY about dieting.
I'm REALLY trying to not be overly sensitive about this but I know it's hard for me not to be. I know ya'll are trying to help.

I really do know ALL about the ins and outs of eating disorders. Mine has never been about apperance... it's an OCD/control and when i was younger a depression thing. My OCD doesn't like seeing anything soft and fluffy when it comes to my body.
I cancelled my gym membership a few months ago to trim my budget. My body didn't like it. Even the smallest change catches my attention and I was starting to see soft and fluffy in the mirror. I don't adjust well to change.
Really though, thanks for the suggestions.
No diet pills for me. 🙂

Thanks guys! Actually since I quit worrying about it SO freaking much and obessing about it all the time it seems I've dropped a few pounds. I ate freaking Pizza Hut the other night.

I think I obsess to much. LOL I have been sticking to salads mostly though so I think my little Pizza Hut cheat didn't affect me too much. I think alot of it was a bit of bloat too due to "that" time. I hate having a vagina sometimes. 😛

Aries and I have been walking a couple miles a night too. He's been more then willing to help. 🙂

GingerScorp - I have been in the health and wellness field for quiet some time. If you read any label of a diet pill you will find that it is essentially made up of caffine or ginesing ....which essentially are like speed. I personally have never been a fan of diet pills or have ever recommended to any of my training clients. The root cause of weight gain is from diet and excercise. I have no idea what your diet is like but here are a few things that are essential in diet:

1 - High protien diet is essential
2 - There is a study on eggs. It gives us the proteins we need in the morning. People who consume eggs daily tend to eat more balanced through out the day. It promotes healthy EP which counters the acetylcholine (ACh) in our bodies ACh = Sugar + Saturated Fat = Causes obesity, pain, inflamation (i.e. fibromyalgia)
3 - Try to cut as much white flour, pasta, white rice (brown rice is good). The common American diet is made up of an over consumption of carbohydrates. That is one big reason why we are getting bigger and bigger. Essentially what happens is these carbs turn into sugar which we store as fat.
4 - Cut down on processed sugar i.e. candy bars, cakes, cookies, etc. ....for the reason I stated above. If you drink sodas stay away from them. Diet sodas are even worse. There is a study that diet sodas not only cause harmful diseases like parkinsons, MS, but they are also making us more fat.
5 - Our Brains need healthy sugar which can be consumed in fruits.
6 - Saturated fats and animal fats should be avoided. If you do any cooking make sure it is with canola oil. It has the right balance of omega6 and omega3 and saturated fats
7 - Drink water ...and more water
8 - When grocery shopping try to stay fresh and away from processed foods. My rule of thumb of what I tell clients is to shop on the outside aisles of the grocery store. If you think about the outside aisles it is all fresh products. All that processed crap we eat from a can, box, or in a frozen bag usually contains high sugar, high sodium, high fats, chemicals that are harmful to our bodies.

Excercise (I don't even know what your regiment is for excercise is ....if you don't have a program start one):
1- I recommend mixing up your workouts every 3-4 weeks to keep muscle confusion
2 - Your workouts should be combined with strength training and cardio. Weights are essential to fat loss. The more muscle mass we have the more fat we burn.
3 - I have really enjoyed interval training where I do 15 minute cardio, set of weights, 15 min cardio, set of weights. I have dropped lots of body fat especially around mid section
4 - When you are strength training try to incorporate as much core training as you can. I like to use the swiss ball, balance boards, bosse ball, and free weights to engage my core (abs, back, glutes = largest muscles in our body)

Those are the key elements to successful health in my opinion and what I have witnessed what has worked with clients and my own personal regiment.

One last thing I always tell all my clients. A healthy life style is not something you wake up one day and say okay I am a going to do (+) things for my body every day and it changes. It really is a life style change. Take one thing at a time. i.e. One week ....drink water instead of soda, one week......commit to going to the gym 2 x's for 45 minutes. One week....commit to cook all your meals

Read anything and everything on health. There is so much good stuff out there.

Also, don't beat yourself up for having a bad day where you put (-) things in your body. I tell my client ...ah well ....today is a new day. We all have our bad days. I even do. I still enjoy an ice cream sundae from time to time ...but not nearly like I used to.

I have noticed the less and less fast food I consume ...the more my body no longer tolerates it. When I eat pizza I just feel icky. My workouts are bad ....and it just is not worth it, but sometimes I just have to have that piece of pizza. Once you start consuming good things in your body watch your digestion system just feel more healthy.

Also, health, diet, excercise is not something you just do to your goal and let it go.....it really is a way of life and something we must continually work on. So my advice .....if you really want to change your life ...be prepared to really change .....and for the better. 🙂

I hope this info has helped. 🙂

Be well,

PD

I hear ya Ms.P I've always been a farm/outdoor kid so I guess running around all the time made me thin and I could eat WHATEVER I wanted without gaining an ounce. Now between work and everything else it just seems tiresome to have to keep up with everything else. 😛

But I have a wedding coming up so I have to stay away from my favs. I LOVE pizza.

Maybe I should blame it on my Taurus rising 🙂 lol
