When something breaks it means it doesn’t work anymore... you can fix it but probably will never be the same again. Why are you guys on a break?

Break means breakup. If a person just wanted time apart and still valued the relationship, they'd simply ask for some space. A break is basically the baby step to ending the relationship. It's an attempt to lighten the blow by ending things unofficially before the offical breakup.
If my partner wanted a "break" I would just end the relationship. I see no point in putting myself in the position of being strung along. In which case, what they do is there business and what I do is my bussines. There's no need to keep each other posted on each others lives at that point.

Just my personal opinion ...as other LEO may differ from each other.
Anyways, for me there is no such thing as ' on break'...simply it means for me that the relationship has ended. Thus, the exchange communication is non existence between me & my Ex. So, there's no space to infuse the causes of the breakup.
Either you are probably referring to 'time off' which again is not a cool stuff for me...what? like a probation stage .Lol! rather i end things with the guy. If things will not simply work out before we both call it quits.
But if just a misunderstanding..indeed it is good to talk afterwards to save whatever is left in your relationship. I as a LEO want a non toxic relationship that at least could last for a lifetime if possible.

Just do yourself a favor and make sure that you're serious regarding whatever decision you make. Don't hook up with someone else simply out of spite or loneliness. Avoiding a rebound will help you move on from the other person.
