That is really sad. 😢 He was such an amazing man.....the love for his wife was just beautiful. I was not a fan of all his movies ....but how could you not love Ghost, Over Board, Dirty Dancing. Did not care much for Roadhouse. 😢 I saw the interview with him on barber walters end of last year. This is really sad. 😢

R.I.P Patrick. 😢

I've never been a fan but it's always sad when someone you "know" dies. Some people say "you don't vie a damn about the hundreds of children that die in Africa every day, so why do you care about some stupid actor?" Well I haven't actually gotten to know any of those children and I sure as hell haven't grown up with them. Like when Marlon Brando died I felt as if a distant family member has left this life and I'm never gonna see them again..but I've never even met the man. Kind of crazy.

I watched the whole Barbara Walters special. I was almost in tears when it ended because I knew that he knew that he was going to die. Its just the way he answered the questions ... he knew but he didn't want to tell the whole world but he still wanted to tell his story, I don't blame him.

CS .....me too .....it was sad to see. 😢 You can tell the way they hold each other, look at each other ....they have a deep love for one another. I feel so sad for his wife now. Patrick seemed like such a genuine person in his interviews.

BTW - His wife ....isn't she the other dance teacher on Dirty Dancing— I could have sworn I read some where that is where he met her.

ET - I won't disagree that it is sad to that hundreds are dying in third world countries .....but public figures have a way of impacting our sadness and grief ......because they have played vital roles in our past i.e. Michael Jackson and the music we grew up wtih, Farah Fawcett was in our living rooms once a week when we watched Charlies Angels. Patrick played in movies that we watched over and over. Walter Cronkite .....was in our living room relgiously @ 6PM for nightly news......so yes sometimes people do get attached to them. I agree there are ordinary people who die and don't get the public acknowledgement. Public figures have a way of impacting the masses. It is nothing that is bad or good ....it just is.

patrick swayze wasn't in overboard... that was kurt russel. just had to throw that out there to be an ass.

besides, he's either feeling much better now or not at all! either way, it's better than the pain he had to deal with while he was alive. i was glad that my grandmother finally died. sounds harsh but i don't have the same outlook on death that many of my fellow westerners do. she suffered from tumors, leukemia of the bone marrow, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, hypothyroidism, and had a heart attack. that woman went through enough. she was miserable for many years.

in my experience, there are far worse things in life than death.

Oops my mistake ....lol

Of course when people die they are in a better place. I know that all to well. My mom died of cancer in 2005 and believe me it was a relief when she passed. Not because I did not want to see her die ....I just did not want to see her suffer any more. I don't think there is nothing wrong with talking about death or people dying. What is so wrong with talking about it? Of course there are worse things in life .....I don't think anyone will dispute that. Now I am being an ass. 😛

*Nods*

Yes, he seemed very honest about many aspects of his life and thats rare. Being a leo, I guess you would expect him to be genuine as such 🙂

Yes, the whole thing was sad, sad, sad! I'm just glad he's not suffering. My goodness, what he had was not easy to deal with. He was a strong man, especially mentally.

He only did that to himself, actors do not become actors for other people, they become actors for their own selfish reasons, whether thats fame or to express something they cant otherwise, its all selfish..I guess Leos are incapable of seeing past their huge egos 😛

I dont think his intentions were to help humanity and intentions are everything really.

That's true, actors don't become actors for other people - they become actors for the same reason as a painter becomes a painter - because they need to express themselves.

Exactly what i was thinking, enfant..

Humanity & giving come in many different stripes. It's not ALL about feeding the homeless, so-to-speak. I happen to have great respect and appreciation for the arts, myself. It really does bring so much joy to so many. I know the world would be a much more boring place, otherwise. Imo, the arts ARE one of the last strongholds in a not so civilized world. And not all ego is bad or selfish, as it is the cousin to great passion, desire & drive. Most of us do express and strive to do & be the best we can, whether in our jobs/careers/personal life; talented in our own way..

It's Swayze's genuine kindness and awesome love for his wife that i remember most. His acting was merely the icing..

The reality is that not all people become actors because they genuinely want to or have something to express, many choose it because they simply and plainly want to be famous and or rich, many many people get into that business for the wrong reasons. Wheres the bashing in stating THIS reality? enlighten me please.

You don't just "get into the business"! And you sure as hell don't pick a profession like acting because you're too lazy to do something else. I know very well how money corrupts people, but in the end acting is a drag like any other job if you're not into it for the right reason. I believe it's you who's been reading too many tabloid magazines because your perception of the industry is not very original either.

Enfant ....I agree with you 100% . That sounds like something a virgo would do .....definately not a leo. My ex leo lover was into acting and being on center stage of the theater ....but he sure as hell made no money. lol He did it because he loves being on stage, it is where he felt most at home. I honestly think that Patrick loved the theatrical life and loved to dance. There is no fault in becoming successful and ....rich doing what you love.
