Making *any* man work for it a bit, isn't game-playing, it's affirming your value.

Note that "value" here doesn't denote basic respect, which is everyone's due, regardless. It refers to the simple truth that a prize too easily won tends to be taken for granted. Even when two people are blessed with an easy, natural connection, a romantic relationship (in particular) must demand a little more from the dominant (male) potential partner, in order to establish the nature of the relationship as something to be respected as special as the woman being pursued.
