i can understand that you are worried about being toyed with and used and it's a reasonable concern to have. the best thing you can do is to take everything with a pinch of salt and while continuing to be a good sport, remain sceptical until shown otherwise.
you just have to let it play out. if you are being played with, you'll find out. if you are not, then nothing is lost. just don't allow someone to use you who has yet to show their real intentions to you.
