How does tarot cards work? How can cards tell your life story—

Hi Librawoman7, I've just taken out 3 Universal Waite cards for this question: "What's my higher self telling me to do?"

The world flipped out first and so i placed it on the left (card 1), then I felt one card was calling me, so I flipped it and its 9 of pents, then I placed it next to the prev card. The last card made me shuffled quite long and I kinda had to just pick it then (else I wouldnt finish shuffling lol) and it was 8 of swords.

Okay, so in my mind now, 'the world' can mean a voyage, or a route, basically a change of path (because i cant relate my situation to the meaning of "success" that this card also has). I also read it means completion, or "the world is your oyster".

But then ...

Actually, know what, here is what my gut is telling me.

In order to have all my dreams that this world (the world) provide me with, I have to get out (8 of swords) from my comfort zone (9 of pents) or end my solitary life (the world + 9 of pents) and its actually not as hard as it seems (8 of swords).

Whay about you, how do you view the cards?
